Betty Stoggs and Oxfordshire 'Pride of Oxford' on tap at £3.15 and £2.85 respectively. Bit generic in a pubco/foodie kind of way (Kids eat for £1, etc.), but the place was clean, the bar staff friendly and the beer in good nick and reasonably-priced, so can't really complain. Still retains its Halls Brewery plaque on the wall by the entrance. Komakino - 27 Feb 2013 15:00 |
Would agree it can be difficult to get served and quality of beer can vary, but in my experience the staff here have no quarms in changing a pint if asked. Another point to mention is the fairly regular sight of an unsual guest beer. Beer prices very reasonable. All in all, not a bad place. Timmo - 5 Nov 2009 16:15 |
Very busy which is always a good sign, however it can be difficult to get served. I am told the food is good and it seems popular. Beer is variable in quality, dependent upon what is currently being stocked. Worth a stop if passing but but don't take a detour. stevet650 - 14 Aug 2009 22:35 |
This is a good place to go if you are in search of food. Their 2 meals plus drink for 9.99 until 6pm is a great deal. The range of beers is quite variable though, sometimes they have lots of guest ales but sometimes you can be limited to just marstons pedigree. Not a place where i'd usually spend a lot of time, it just doesn't really feel like a pub and there isn't really a lot of atmosphere. In the summer though it's quite nice to sit out in the beer garden pintofpride - 15 Mar 2007 11:44 |
This is quite a trendy pub now - fresh looking inside, have a large range of draught lagers and usually some good ales - often different to the usuals (not being a Greene King pub!). Old Hooky was excellent in there Xmas 2005. Often a decent mix of locals and Brookes students in there too. anonymous - 23 Jun 2006 14:50 |
