just dosen't feel like a proper pub. we've been in once this year and can't imagine any regulars drinking here. not one for me this. fatpet - 1 Nov 2009 11:55 |
September 2008, crap, avoid, terrible beer, very pretencious customers and poor service from miserable staff. But clean and tidy enough Rate this place zero so lots of work to to here. mrBean - 7 Sep 2008 22:37 |
The renovation has helped somewhat. It is certainly no wine bar, but you can see they have tried to head in that direction in terms of the decor. A little bit more contemporary, however the actual bar itself is still the same(varnished oak), and the huge pillars that could have been removed to create a more open plan effect, haven't been, which has mixed reviews from the locals. The garden area has been slightly improved but not significantly. The beer seems to have improved a bit, and I can't comment on the food(at least not since the management change). They have probably tried to reduce their scally clientele, but unfortunately, having been a "fun pub" for so long, and as long as the bouncers continue to admit them, they will still frequently attend. How about a weekend Rockport/trainer ban? Now Brown's up the road, they know how to bounce. anonymous - 15 Aug 2007 16:41 |
Attracts a scarily massive amount of scallie scumbags and the beer is oddly expensive - Only good thing this place has going for it is a huge beer garden which is pretty cool. I will admit I haven't been in the pub since it's renovation though, so maybe things have improved anonymous - 1 Jun 2007 17:00 |
A bit biased, maybe. I do work there. However we have just been through a major refurbishment and has been most thoroughly de chav'd by the new managers, Jamie and Emma (previously of the Spread Eagle, Romiley). Come in for a good selection of beers and ales, both keg and cask, the best food in Hazel Grove, our fantastic new wine selection (for the conessuers among you) and our organic, fair trade coffee made to order by our fully trained staff.
