I used to love this pub, they had a fabulous range of guest beers . The very last pub where I managed to find a pint of Owd Roger ! this pub is now closed and is a Tesco Express shop. oldbob - 11 Feb 2013 02:42 |
I've used this pub fairly regularly since 2002. At that time it was well run with a good solid customer base which seemed to maintain through various landlord changes. There was always a good atmosphere - led by affable staff and management, and around 2006/7 it offered a really good food menu at very reasonable prices. I wasn't able to go there for about a year until last week (July 2011) - and oh dear - what a dreadful experience! The furnishings and decor haven't been replaced or renovated in years and are in a sad state of disrepair. But the saddest aspect is that the once welcoming atmosphere is now a rough and hostile one to visitors - an attitude clearly championed by the current landlord, a distinctly unfriendly and abusive chap who acted as if he was doing me a huge favour by serving me and taking my money. My sincere advice to pub-goers in the Peterborough area is to avoid this pub completely until the inevitable change of landlord takes place. You'll be able to clearly see when it has happened - my guess is the 'Pub Available For Lease' signs will be on display there before too long....... Save_our_pubs - 11 Jul 2011 13:58 |
This is a rather uninspiring pub, typical of the type of thing that was built on 70s housing estates. In this case though, its not on a housing estate, but in the middle of a business park. I would imagine virtually all of its trade is from the nearby offices. It was certainly very quiet when e visited on a Saturday lunchtime. Inside is equally uninspiring, with a typical layout from the period, a plasma TV showing some football, and a set of speakers set up ready for karaoke or something similar. The sign outside proudly proclaimed Quality food served all day which I feel may be slightly misleading. It probably is served all day, but Im not sure about the other bit. Its pub grub at its most basic several sandwiches, jacket potatoes, all day breakfast, chilli, etc. I opted for the prawn sandwiches which came with packet sliced bread, a few prawns in a rather runny sauce, a very small handful of salad and a couple of crisps! It was cheap though, less than my pint I think, and I didnt really have high expectations. Beer choices were just Bombadier and Woodfordes Wherry. The only cider was Strongbow, unfortunately. Avoid. Terrible pub - open plan, wide screen TV, smokey and full of the local low lifes. Shame really, as the area is crying out for a decent pub. No redeeming features really. old_wodger - 11 Mar 2007 18:48 |
Nice Modern pub, handy for the Business lunches from the near by Enterprise park during the day, Evenings can be a bit quiet. But Hey if you want a decent pint give it a try. The chinese and chippy are just on the corner as well Amarok - 3 Mar 2006 22:49 |
