Most disappointed with the service i received on my recent visit. Unfortunately they had ran out of merlot... but hay ho, these things happen... i was given (not offered) a 'mix and match' instead...to my horror, consisted of the dregs of 3 bottles of red!!! When i discreetly explained i didn't want that and would like a refund, i was amazed at the response from the chap in charge.... how very very rude! Need i say i wont be visiting again, no wonder it was quiet! winetaster - 3 Dec 2009 11:48 |
Most pubs like this are either good for beer, and you wouldn't eat there, or the food is very good but you wouldn't really just go in for a pint. This pub is very good on both fronts, and that must be down to the bar team and staff who are very friendly and efficient. Slight minus (in my view) is the beers are invariably all theakstons with few if any guests, but they are invariably well kept and this is a really good all round pub with a good mix of clientele. mps77 - 18 Mar 2009 13:49 |
What a lovely pub. We walked in from Chester and enjoyed the ales on offer. Friendly staff made us welcome, and we enjoyed the comfortable surroundings. gillhalfpint - 26 Mar 2008 23:08 |
This is my local, and very good it is too. They do an excellent job, you dont have to wait long to get served and very thing is clean. chestertouristcom - 17 Sep 2007 20:49 |
What a great little place! Excellent beers, very friendly staff and all the locals make you welcome as well. Can't rate the food but the live music on Saturday was excellent, band called Raynemaker.Good old fashioned rock and blues. A lot better than many Chester city pubs and I will be back soon.
