SA Gold and Rev James on hand pull. SA gold pulled flat no flat or life. Tasted a gulp. Maybe two to make sure and returned to barman. Rev James was crapper took a smaller precautionary sip. Rank. Did not return and sat for a while. I couldn't believe someone came in asked for a tester of the Rev. Then asked for a pint. Flat as a pancake ! Looks to be a big lager pub. Gave a better rating than the beer deserved as the bands are usually pretty good. Won't come here for a pint. The local spoons is a hope but they know beer. Burridge60 - 10 Jan 2014 18:42 |

Dirty, run down and the ale is truly awful. PaulAHarris1973 - 18 Jun 2013 14:05 |
After some years away from Chelmsford,I visited the Fleece recently and has now been renamed The Golden Fleece,As it was when I used to visit it back in he early 90s,it was then my most favourite pub in Chelmsford with a very friendly Atmosphere, for a time it had been simply called "the Fleece"but it's name has recently reverted back to it's full title. Today the Golden Fleece has live bands 3 days a week, starting as early as 2pm in the afternoon-when I visited it was on a Tuesday,so no live bands for that day, they open for Breakfast every morning from 9am. Another thing I noted that there was a disabled customer in a Wheelchair visiting when I was there and the Staff brought his Drinks to his table for him, this indeed goes a long way with me-superb helpful friendly staff !. pabanks49 - 28 Jul 2011 11:53 |
