A good basic pub which caters for the local community. Last time I visited the bar service was very indifferent and definitely not welcoming. OK if you're desperate for a pint I suppose. classic0904 - 12 Feb 2011 18:02 |
A large high ceiling pub with the main room wrapped in an L-shape around the bar. The various pub signs outside promise a very warm welcome but this didnt seem to be the case on our visit. Nothing particularly wrong with the barmaids attitude, but Ive had far better in other pubs that dont make an issue of it. Why have a pointless strap line like that and make no effort to live up to it? Theres a few tables out the front to watch the world go by, but its not a particularly pleasant spot being right on the main A37. The main bar has a couple of plasmas that were showing the football, numerous fruit machines dotted around and some unusual gas style globe lamps above the bar. The rear bar is down a few steps and contains a pool table and a dart board. There is also a projector screen here although this was not in use on our visit. Beers on tap were Courage Best and Bombadier. Ciders were Symonds Founders Reserve and Blackthorn. Blackthorn - 5 Nov 2010 10:35 |
Often use on a Saturday night, a good locals boozer, last time i was in there beers were Wells Bombadier, Courage Best and Caledonian 80/-, all in tip top condition. Has live Music of some discription most Saturday night. GT37 - 24 May 2010 21:00 |
Recent refurb. Smartened up, nothing over the top. Pleasant enough boozer. And really quite large. Not open until until 7pm weekdays, mind. Low nutter quotient. Joan_Crawford - 2 Nov 2006 16:41 |
