as i live in bracebridge heath i have visited this pub before and after the renovations. before i would say while this pub was a bit drab looking it had alot of atmosphere and was never short of a few regulars and the food was superb! now though the pub lacks that charm it previously had and looks like all other generic pubs, little offence made by the perfect walls and well upholstered seating. mostly the staff are friendly but i find the manager a bit unapproachable. the biggest problem though i have found is the food. I have now been to this pub 3 times, a number of months between each visit as i believe you should give people a secind chance, but on each visit the food has been slow to be served (even when there is only our table to be served) when it ihas come out it has lacked flavour, finesse and has even on one occassion been cold! Then when you complain to the claws come out from the "manager" although havent yet witnessed much management, unless you include sitting in the pub with her friends and stating that it is quite ok to be expected to be served cold and yellow peas?! hmmm, definatly dont think i will go there again. i have been a cook in a kitchen myself and so i know how food can and should be cooked and presented and the Bull just doesnt cut it. phillraf - 17 Jul 2009 16:28 |
Excellent pub, refurbished in the last year, very clean, spacious separate bar area with pool table, TVs in 2 rooms but plenty of room elsewhere to get away from them if thats what you want. Large outside / garden area with carpark round the back. Well kept. with friendly management along with pleasant & knowledgeable staff. Very good menu, grills, tradional etc. carvary available on Sundays. Food is good appears to be tradional cooking methods. Fair range of beers, lagers, ciders etc billyb_imp - 15 Nov 2008 21:42 |
