As part of a usual saturday pub crawl I am pleased to say that this pub remains friendly and pleasant to be in, however it was the most expensive ale we drank that night and I am sorry to say we visited equally good pubs with much lower prices (cheapest was 65p a pint less) that night so will probably knock this one off the list for a while, or I win the lotto and don't care how much I pay for a pint.

A very good local pub, really well kept beer, friendly staff who treat both their beer and their customers with respect

Interesting film related memorabilia on the walls (Sherlock / Silent era). Quiet in the midweek afternoon we visited.

Only a relatively brief drop-in to this GBG-listed venue a couple of Saturdays back. Regrettably, my partner-in-piss had started to struggle with his insides following an ill-advised mouthful of Dark Star's Coffee Pilsner at the nearby Leopold; so ill-advised in fact that I have to advise you he was ill - seriously so and spent much of our time in the Northcote making use of their apparently commodious bathroom facilities. Oh well, that left me to enjoy the place as best I could and take in what it had to offer. Some local beers were provided - very nice drop of Irving - and the service was with a smile. There was a cosy element to this pub, although being a Saturday night things were reasonably buzzy and I observed a decent mix of ages and gender in the clientele. Music was on but not perceived to be unduly intrusive.
Although not an out-and-out corker, I got the distinct impression the Northcote was the sort of pub that had the potential to appeal to a broad segment of the pubgoing populace, and is certainly somewhere I might get back to if in the area again. However I can only pray it will be with different company - if one sees more of the urinal than the bar then one knows one has strayed too far from the right road.

Lovely pub with good atmosphere. The beer range is limited but what they have is kept well.

This pub is still a good one even if you are not local, 6X and Landlord were in very good condition on this visit and still friendly in atmosphere. Public and lounge equally good.

Good pub this, fairly traditional and friendly. Worth seeking out as public is large and friendly and lounge feels like a comfortable livimg room - with Beer!

Popped in whilst in town to see Spurs play portsmouth. Nice enough pub with two bars. Decent dart board which is kept apart from the drinking area. Nice drop of bitter but can't remember the name.

If you like this pub but fancy a slightly quieter drink wander down the road to the Rutland Arms - great fun quiz on Thursdays, nice beer garden, friendly bar girls and plenty of regulars to debate the days events with! Really busy before footie.

My favourite pub ever. I miss it

One of the best local pubs in the area, fine selection of real ales and a garden area for the kids. No loud music, like must of the other pubs along nearby Albert Road. A great Pre-football pub too
