Park Hotel, Birkdaleback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Just a few yards from Birkdale railway station. Crowded with diners and footy fans last Saturday afternoon. FA Cup football being shown on 5 screens! Three ales available. I had Thwaites 'Wainwright' which was fine. I left after one pint and just like blue scrumpy went up the road to the Fishermans Rest which is a bit more upmarket but only had two ales available.

John Barras pub next to Birkdale station. It seems to be primarily set up for dining during the day, with most tables set up with placemats. However, they did have 3 ales on - Adnams Christmas Cheer Beer, Robinsons Dizzy Blonde & Thwaites Wainwright. I chose the Adnams, which wasn't bad. After trying this pub, I discovered that the nearby Up Steps pub was closed (possibly for good) before heading further up Weld Road to the Fishermen's Rest that was on a par with the Park Hotel, if not slightly better. Although it is not listed on here.

Barmaid who checks Customer's identity wouldn't be out of place on Checkpoint Charlie, very officious attitude, and a bit scary!!
But the Vier is very tasty, and I like Birkdale plenty of other pubs and cafes, bistros, to have a stroll around.

Excellent landlord and staff. Good sports coverage; guest ales and prices. Food average.

Usually good value food sometimes not a full menu but usually something for all tastes

Friendly, busy with a traditional pier-like bar, it is set in pleasant Birkdale, with a beer garden and Sky/pool table - this is a great pub for a decent afternoon or evening session.
