Popped in yesterday for the first time in about two years. No real ale anymore. Walked straight out again.

Not my choice of place yesterday but it was a Christmas outing with work colleagues. Service was good; food and beer were OK. Handpulls were obviously all from Marston's - Jennings Cumberland, Cocker Hoop and Ringwood Boondoggle.

Overpriced, low grade real ale, customers look like Apprentice wannabees.

The only good thing about this place is that you can walk in one door, realise your mistake in entering another soulless City Boy infested Flea Hole, and continue to walk out the door opposite.

Now that it serves upto three real ales, this place is now on my radar when in the city centre. Especially early on Friday evenings in summer when there is regular live music outside at the bandstand, it makes a very acceptable venue for a few scoops before heading back to Harborne for the serious drinking.

Went in with a large group for early evening meal prior to concert nearby. Staff quick and helpful - pointed out that we qualified for a meal deal giving us our wine for a fiver instead of 13 - we wouldn't have realised otherwise. Read all the menus and table cards carefully for good offers. Food was good value. Furniture sticky.

Boring, bland, uninspiring.

Outrageously they've stopped serving Brandy Alexanders! They used to do magnificent 'zanders and it was the best thing about the place. Now they don't sell them it's really got nothing going for it. What would Aloysius say?

Im not a great fan of the Pitcher & Piano chain but visited here for a work do recently and was pleasantly surprised. It has the usual pretentious P&P atmosphere but a big plus point is the location. Its split on two floors with the upper floor having a balcony overlooking the canal and downstairs having outside decking right on the canal side. Very pleasant on a Summers evening. One gripe I always have with P&Ps is that the beer taps all look the same and you have to look closely to see what is on offer, although I suspect their offering doesnt change much. Interesting notice behind the bar said All spirits will be served as doubles as standard, singles available on request. Is that a P&P thing?

Nice location but a dull pub. Typical 'middle management' type clientele and quite pricy. The pub offers little in the way of atmosphere

The H-File tour came to Birmingham this past Saturday night (2 Dec) and we had a round of drinks in this bland pseudo wine bar. YAWN. A sterile and soporific place, clearly lacking copious female talent. Hearing Blur's 'Coffee and TV' track amongst the dreary tunes being played in the background cheered me up a bit though. My mate who got the drinks in here said it was a bit pricey also.
Ironically, this is next door to what looked like the equally unappealing All Bar One (we glanced in and decided no way we were going in there). Smart location, but not somewhere I would come again on a Friday/Saturday night if in the area searching for H-Files.

Lovely setting, nice pub, but the barman told me off for not sitting at a table for one. Even though I was the only customer in this huge place! Never mind, it's still good and worth visiting.

Gorgeous pub - I am not a chain fan but this place is really nice. Cosy balcony overlooking the water and some unusual and attractive fireplaces!

Smart comfy pub, waiter service, popular with business set at lunchtime and young professionals during the evening.
