NOW CALLED "THE ECCLESALL"
|
called here last saturday. first time. I only had a brief look round. looks ok from outside, but inside it seemed a bit worn-out to me. Central bar, pool table one side, seating to the other. Two [or three] cask ales on offer. I had tetley cask. there was also cumberland ale. it didn't seem all that busy for a weekend. verdict: I wasn't terrible, but I wasn't tempted to stay.

Pints are OK compared to it's Ecclesall Road neighbours. Food quite good, you tend to know what you're getting though if you're paying naf all.
Decor is good though, looks the part and always somewhere to sit.
Outside is good in the summer to watch the world go by.
Get a bad crowd in there sometimes though, who indulge in illegal practices..

This is a nice pub set near Hallam University, very student dominated, extremely cheap for food and drinks, also has seperate smoking and non smoking sections, with a car park at the rear and also with outside seating too.

Great pub even if it is in the heart of student territory - very cheap and good value hearty food, great range of drinks including teas, coffees and hot chocolate, nice interior with separate moking areas and small outside patio with seating. Shows big screen sports. Recently refurbished too.

What happended? You were my favourite local! Look at you now! You had the potential to be Ecclesall's Numero Uno, but you put up the prices and tried to market yourself with expensive food - dah, what the hell!

Used to come here for the jazz sessions on Wednesday nights when I used to stay in Sheffield a few years ago. Don't know if they still have them. At the time I wouldn't have bothered going in for any other reason.
