Although I'm not a fan of pubs changing their historic names to something more trendy, this revamping formula by Dodo Pubs / Arkells (how much are they linked?) seems to be successful. A selection of beers on tap and tasters offered – not all from Arkells but the 3Bs was very good. Although we didn't eat here, there's a straightforward burger and pizza menu. Quite why a quirky industrial interior design makes a pub attractive is a mystery to me, but it's a popular place with good beer.

Does the décor look a bit old hat now? Or maybe I have just been inside too many pubs which have metal chairs and bookshelves. The Arkell's Hoperation IPA was better than average but nothing exceptional and the choice of cider was limited to bottles only. As a previous reviewer said, it's "pleasant".

The Rickety Press for some time now and a sister pub to the Rusty Bicycle on Magdalen Road, the food is good and the Arkells ales exemplary but the seating for non diners is at a premium and prices higher than at its fellow establishment. An essential part of an Jericho pub crawl but lacks the true community feel of the Rusty BIke.

Arkells pub, modern stripped out style but well done. Nice and warm. Wiltshire Gold 3.20 and good. Food menu is prominent, plenty of people eating. Attracts a certain clientel who can afford to eat out. Strange crossroads outside, everyone has to give way.

Great makeover and seems to be doing well. Quite an intimate interior with old books round the walls and mood lighting, but still somewhere you can go as a group also.
Very much still a pub where you can still just go for a drink, they also do some tasty random bar snacks from the kitchen (sausage rolls a while back but think it changes weekly).

Oxford's first Arkells pub. Definitely upmarket with a gastropub vibe, but still friendly and you can have a drink without eating, although most people were. Beer very good as was the food. The only problem is with the rather forward bar staff who clearly have been told to engage their customers in conversation. I wish they wouldn't.

Just opened, a very smart (rather than upmarket and pretentious) Arkells pub. Quite pleasant.

Had been closed for a time and now re-opened with new grey exterior and new name - The Rickety Press (see photo).

The Radcliffe Arms has indeed been taken over by new management and we wish them all the best. Thai food was good. Just a little out of the way for us to visit more often. Good luck to Andy and Cuchis!!

With the new management this pub changed for good. The THAI food that they serve is so good and the beers are very good. The pub looks really nice and clean, the staff is very friendly. I can recommend this pub to all the people because i think this pub really change for good.

Two out of the three pints of beer I was offered on a recent visit were undrinkable. The Theakstons XB was not only cloudy but had large bits floating in it, I haven't seen that sort of thing in a long time. I was accused of being rude when I asked for it to be changed. Any perceived rudeness on my part was eclipsed somewhat by the foul language from the locals, which appeared to be acceptable.

I didn't eat here so probably missed out on this pub's best aspect, but when I visited on a Saturday night I wasn't impressed - a poor selection of ales did not tempt. It also seemed that they'd got rid of one of the doors (maybe I'm wrong?) so the pub is now an L shape, with a door at one end of the L and a long walk through the pub to the other end, which appeared to be in the midst of decoration. Could do better.

Charitable institution devoted to the promotion of meat consumption: there is a fresh meat raffle after the pub quiz and the food is almost certainly the cheapest in Oxford. In fact it's so cheap you could probably afford to taxi here and back and still feel it was good value for money. The drinks seem to subsidise this altruistic distribution of meat, but are tasty enough. Good roomy pub with great atmosphere. Worth checking out. The food is by the way tasty enough, and comes in large portions. Vegetarians, students and locals all well-catered for.

Cheap pub grub, good selection of cask ales and a good mix of students and locals. Definitely worth a visit.

Amazingly good value food. Nice atmosphere -- locals and students rubbing along very amicably. Friendly staff.

Moved from Oxford a couple of years ago but I presume the Radcliffe still has the amazingly good-value food and drink that it always used to - never had any quibbles with this place and thoroughly enjoyed regular visits!

I have been going to this pub for over ten years and can wholeheartedly recommend it for food and drink. Though I no longer live in Oxford I always pop in when I can. The food is tasty and incredible value and the beer is well kept. It has a juke box and shows the football and is definitely in my top 10 Oxford pubs.
