Just been back to this pub, not been here for a while, nothing too much changed apart from looking cleaner and staff more alert! The real difference is the beer. They had Wychwood Hobgoblin, Jennings Cumberland Ale and Marstons Pedigree and I chose the Cumberland which was fresh and moreish, very good. While I was there an elderly gent also commented on how good the beer is these days. A change of management perhaps? Worth a look in if your in the area.

In here Saturday morning so a bit quiet.
This is a Marstons pub. Large central bar with six hand pulls 3 on either side
but two didn't have anything on.
Another two had Pedigree but with the clips turned round which only left the EPA so had a pint of that which was OK and cost 2.90

Just been in this pub and it was almost empty (7pm) but i still managed to stand at the bar for a full 10 minutes without being acknowledged or served!
A guy who appeared to be in charge, went round and cleared some tables on both sides of me, he then went back behind the bar and started chatting to 2 barmaids. One of the barmaids walked past me, looking up at the glasses on the shelf, totally ignoring me! I eventually left, totally dumfounded by the total lack of service and regard to customers! If they had been busy I would have understood it! Will never go in there again!

Management, these are the opinions of your customers; I would definitely take it seriously.

Used to go to this pub many years ago when I lived in England. Visit a couple of times a year and take my mum for lunch. This place is not what it used to be. Staff talking amongst themselves instead of serving me while I stand and wait at the bar. No atmosphere anymore. Couldn't care less attitude by staff and slow service. Unfortunately this seems to be ok with Mum so I just grit my teeth and deal with it. Next time I am going to try to get her to go somewhere else!

I've recently moved to Billericay & have tried all the pubs in town, but The Red Lion is the cream of the crop. Good beer, fairly cheap especially 1.50 Wednesdays, (although getting up for work on a thursday is a challange) Great food (very reasonably priced) friendly & proffesional staff, mostly good lookers too! By the looks of the black boards there's always something going on. My new home from home.

Nipped in here prior to watching a football match at Billericay Town this afternoon. Only downing a couple of quick Strongbows - it was a warm afternoon. Astonished at how busy it was and at how many people were eating. Service was pretty swift. The food going past me smelled good and looked tasty. Also surprised at how genuinely middle class (Well middle class-ish, this is Saaf Essix) the diners were. Seemed a decent pub. Cerainly looked worth a proper visit for a proper drink at a proper time of day.

Had a couple of pints there yesterday lunchtime. I thought it was very good. Friendly service and a good pint of Pedigree. Very clean, too, which always scores good marks in my book.

Known by some locals as "Le Lion Rouge", this used to be one of the better pubs in Billericay but these days it has fallen somewhat down the pecking order.

They have some decent ales although it can take a long time to get served at busy times.

Whilst there are better pubs in both directions along the High St, it is certainly worth popping in to the Red Lion if you're on a multi-pub evening (otherwise known as a pub crawl).

One of the best pubs in Billericay. A good crowd, the usual beers and plenty of barstaff at weekends combine to make this one of the most popular pubs in town. It's expensive, but then you pay for what you get here.

This pub has lost its Casque Mark - and quite right too; it's going down the pan!

Generally the 30'somethings pub, that has a great atmosphere, good selection of beers and is always busy but not unpleasantly. If you're older than 25 and new to Billers then try this pub out

P.S This used to be the pub in Billers with all the brasswork on the walls that was half the size; the closing night before it's major refurb was one to remember, god knows what I did with the wall clock I was "given" that night.

If you are after tart then this is the place to go ! Anything from quiche to apple. Gets very crowded of a weekend. A lot of history attached to this pub. Well worth popping in.
