A decent ''Spoons with 5 casks available on my visit and friendly staff.

The 3rd and final pub on my list in Kirkcaldy was this large Lloyd's Number one pub.

Its just before 6.30pm when I enter on a Saturday night and the pub is busy but not too stressful or loud.

A few large groups of people eating with the rest of the clientele made up of couples and drinkers.

The bar offers 6 pumps that have 5 ales on, I opt for a pint of Kelburn Misty Law @ 4.0%. A very good pint and a steal at £2.10 a pint...quickly brought down to £1.60 with my Camra voucher!

The decor is typical 'spoons and nothing to write home about, though its pleasant.

A decent enough pub and a double tick as it's in the 2015 GBG and its a Wetherspoons!

I have to say that I got served quickly and efficiently but I do accept that many 'spoons suffer from lack of staff or slow service. The beer was fine the coffee hot and inexpensive and that's about it all really!! If you've been into one Wetherspoons you have probably been in them all.

On my next visit, to have a pint with my dying father I was asked to leave as the Licensee/Manager recognised my coment posted here on the 24th Jul 2009, and just said "Beer in the Evening?", and barred me again. On my next visit a few months ago, he actually mocked the death of my father then hid behind his security staff who escorted us out!
This bar is the bottom of the barrel, its dismal and depressing and its management and staff really need some lessons in hospitality. There are much happier places in Kirkcaldy to drink and relax with a beer in the evening! May I suggest Betty Nicols on the High Street, 2 mins walk around the corner.

Disappojnting Wetherspoons near the centre of town. The usual Spoons poor service was in evidence. The one barmaid was rushed off her feet with large queues building up, whilst other staff were cleaning tables. Surely serving drinks should be a priority? The various coffee and food orders were not helping proceedings. Finally we got served and the Traditional Scottish Ales Lomond Gold was fairly good. They also had Strathaven Duchess Anne, Coach House Post Horn, Greene King Abbot Ale & Caledonian Deuchars IPA. Alas there was no real cider. Children screaming didn't make for a particularly relaxing experience, with the noise reverborating around the drinking hall. Getting to the toilets is also a bit of a climb.

Nothing changed in years, still terrible service. Surly and rude with really dumb staff. 3 months ago a barman couldnt even serve me properly, when I said dont bother with the drink order in the end he barred me. Not a big loss to visit yet another grubby dangerous drinking hole in kirkcaldy. Never been barred from a pub in my life.

Lloyds pub. Cheap beer, but spirits can be a bit pricey. The service is terrible. The staff all seem to be young, inexperienced, with no customer service skills. The food is ok, but very slow service, not ideal if you are on an hours lunch break. The toilets are up serveral flights of stairs. Disabled toilets on the ground floor, but would back up what previous reviewer said. Regular 'disabled' customers have their own key and give the use of this to all their friends and family. A good smoking area out at the rear of the pub, which has heaters.

Think this is now a Lloyds pub with plasma screen TV's and music - some of which is horrible jazz. Service is poor because they just don't have enough staff (who turn up for work) so once you get served buy enough so you don't have to queue up again. Toilets (except disabled and children) are up at least 2 flights of stairs and are nice and clean. They've got newspapers in glass cases above the urinals so you've got something to read for about 30 seconds. If you use the disabled toilet - watch out - one of the regulars has his own key so him and his mates treat it as their own. He walked in when an elderly, genuinely disabled woman was using it (saw it happen). To sum up - this is a very popular, very busy pub with good beer and good food especially on Thursday when you can buy a curry and a pint for 3.99.

A Weatherspoons pub, good prices and a good atmosphere on a night, the only drawback is the service!!!!! It can be pretty dismal on the weekend.
