terrible place - I needed an oasis of calm after the mentalism of the Antelope. I did not expect such a terrible pint.

So, new decor, new staff and new fixtures and fittings - stood at the bar with other people trying to get a drink.
5 minutes.....
10 minutes........
15 minutes...............
Over 10 people walked out (we did not know each other) at having to wait that amount of time for a drink! I remember when there used to be around 8 members of bar staff behind the bar on a Fri/Sat. It was down to 3! Absolutely stupid!

Still a great place to go for a night out with good live entertainment but it now gets so busy that you can barely move in there between 9 and 11pm making it quite a tense atmosphere as people jostle for the bar or battle through crouds to get to the toilets which are situated at one end of the pub.
After 11 it empties out and is more bearable again. Definately give it a try, just maybe go a little later...

Hey is it right that Punchmonkey are playing your venue for News Year Eve ?? If so do we need tickets to get in as we will need 15 tickets.
Can you drop us a message how we can get them as we can't access the bands online diary as the site is closed for repairs.

Well put it this was they have Punchmonkey playing once a month so they have our vote in abundance. We have to travel down from oxford to see this band thats how good they are !!!
We missed them at Oxford, Oneills so count yourselves lucky you have one of the best cover bands in the UK at your pub.
Anybody who hasnt seen them you should go with our blessing totally brilliant, They cover everything a girl wants to hear after a few drinks and the singer (a male) brilliantly covers lady gaga, katy perry, Pink and the Gossip songs just for US. Plus the usual festival bands kings of leon, killers etc.
A Satuday night in the Company of Punchmonkey is all High wycombe needs and we are jealous that people get to see them once a month.

Food is good though even if you told that that you are allergic to mayonnaise and you'll die if it comes into contact with your skin then you can bet your gran it'll still come with mayonnaise inside... plain burger please - can't you put a code into the ordering system for this?
The staff inside are very good and fair. The bouncers recently have been a-holes and their have been some rucks recently in there. Not a coincidence.

Went to the pub when it was The Angel. It was real good then but now I think it's the best pub in town . The atmosphere is always so friendly, the bands are brilliant, the staff are great and the best thing is it attracts all age groups. A great night out!

1nd best pub/bar in Wycombe. Recently won an award for serving the best O'Neils pub grub in the country...and I have to agree it is pretty good! Good beer and great staff make this place a good venue for a night out.

Friday nites, beer, live music by some truely awsome bands. What more can u ask for?
Havent seen n e trouble in oneils, good door staff, doesnt take for ever to get served, they do forget wot you ordered occassionally tho.

heard there has been a lot of trouble here lately which isnt suprising considering it is next to the worst pub in wycombe

is it takes forever to get served.the bar staff are terrible.

Was The Angel, then the Firkin and now O'Neills. Did a lot of growing (throwing?) up in this pub when it was The Firkin - I like to think that was the heyday when there were proper tables and somewhere to sit. Nowadays there is a sparce selection of barrels on which to balance your drink somehow and a lot of floor space to really pack those students in....not what it used to be but maybe I'm just getting older. The annual visit for Xmas Eve is always fun though....

I would not suggest anyone enter this pub. Sat 31st July the head bouncer would not let us in because he tried to chat up a friend and she knocked him back. After his attitude about 30 people left. Just becuase she wouldn't play he refused to let any of us in. Great Customer Service!!

I did my courting in here, i dated the librarian-arent i naughty!
Prior to that i remember fancying the barmaid from this pub.
and during the angel days i used to watch their music videos..."wild boys" was on every 10 minutes-my interest in duran was rekindled from here..it had faded in about 1987...i got it again in 1992...
and so now its another o neils fair enough i suppose dont expect anything too special.

What! They have changed the Firkin to a sh*te O'neills! Crap! This also used to be The Angel, actually liked it then! Upstairs were pool tables etc. The Firkin wasn't that bad.
