Similar number of beers on offer as my last visit - 4 from 12 handpumps. Having said that 2 of the 4 upon ordering were out of service at that moment (Lines being cleared or something!) Ordered a very watery tasting Marstons EPA. Will stick to the Taps in future

Pub has 12handpumps but only 4 or5 beers available. One from Hart brewery usually. Never had a badpint but never had a particularly goodone here either.

This pub is now excellent, the current landlord has turned this pub round from the worse in lytham to the very very best, The Real Ales are plenty and kept in excellent condition. Well done and keep that Beer Flowing :-)

Big pub,8 handpumps,1st was disgusting put replaced with no hassle and a much better pint, 7/10

Had Adnams Explorer along with a meal. Two for 10 and not bad. Large room and about 4 different real ales on from the larger breweries. No Lytham beers on said to be due to a rush on the beers the week before.

Decent well kept cask ales, large pub. Didn't try the food.

Currently CLOSED! 20/12/08. Pub owning company gone bust.

This pub has undergone some recent changes and for the better! It boasts a fine selection of real ales including its own Ship & Royal Ale being a regular in the pub I see that it is very popular. More and more real ale drinkers are returning to the pub to see what ales are currently on sale as they change regularly. Word is also spreading about the up and coming beer festival that they will be holding, so I'm told ten Ales will be available opposed to the usual four or five. The continental lagers are also worth a try as well as the new food menu. The atmosphere is completly changed and is a much nicer place to visit.

I recentley returned to the area and thought that I would give this pub a second chance after so many recomendations from friends after bad experiences a couple of years ago. I was delighted to find that it has a much fresher and cleaner environment and had a selection of cask ales to be proud of. On my visit I picked up some tasting notes for beers available over the next few weeks and sampled 4 of the 5 beers available. They were Ship & Royal Ale, Bombardier, Black Abbot, Abbot Ale and Boddingtons. I look forward to their upcoming beer festival with anticipation. Don't pay attention to the past reputation, give this pub a second chance!

This pub has recently been refurbished by the Orchid Pub group, although it seems like a simple paint job plus removal of knackered big TV screens. They say that they have numerous beers on handpump including a house beer brewed by the Hart brewery, but not during the week they don't. On two separate weekday visits, there were only two cask beers on - really foul Courage Directors and ordinary Hydes Boddingtons. I asked why the "house" beer wasn't on and got a shrug of the shoulders. We left and went to much greener pastures - The Hastings, The County, and The Taps.

The bitter at this pub was particularly bad. I will not be returning.

Also known as the sh*t and boil. Avoid, particularly if you like real ale.
