Good Wetherspoon move - as their other pub, The Three Fishes across the road - has now taken all it's business.

A medium sized Wetherspoons with a fair selection of real ales. Seating was a bit cramped but was comfortable enough. Food was the usual Wetherspoon fare.

Average JDW pub - both in terms of food and drink. Service generally OK but cleanliness leaves something to be deserved .Better than the sister pub almost opposite.

I went there on Sunday to try their Sunday Roast Club menu. It was before 5pm.
Their were a number of dirty tables and half eaten food scattered around various tables. The only roast available was the beef. I should not have bothered. It was barely warm, the meat was thin cut, the potatoes (Aunt Bessie) ? were small and the broccoli and carrots barely edible. It is suggested that, for food, just stick to the beer / burger offer, of a curry on a Thursday.

Visited this pub on a late Sunday afternoon. Have been here before on numerous occasions. One of the better run Wetherspoons. Plenty of seating, good beer selection and reasonable prices. The only disappointment was the steak and kidney pudding meal fron the menu. Although served hot, the pastry on the pie was on the hard side. If you eat in these Wetherspoon run pubs, either have a curry with your drink, or the beer and a burger deal. Forget about the rest of it.

I had a gathering here recently with some friends. The atmosphere was good and the ales served were excellent particularly the local Hammerpot Bottle wreck Porter which is first class. They were also serving Abbott which was good and another Hammerpot ale in addition to Directors. The price of the beer is very reasonable and the staff always friendly. I would definitely recommend this pub particularly to real ale lovers.

Had a nice pint of guinness in here yesterday,my friend liked the ale.
Tried the jacket potato with tuna friend had burger, normal spoons fare good.
Staff worked hard and were prompt with service.
Was good start, before the main event at the hart pub with Fonda cox.

Not great for beer (a couple of brown Arundle beers plus Greene King nonsense), but the service was very good, and unusually for Wetherspoons, not full of drunks.

Good to see Wetherspoons supporting local breweries; a nice pint of Dark Star Sunburst, which stood out, but several other options on offer too.

Typical JDW pub, with a selection of real ales which included some from the 'local' Arundel Brewery. A pint of their Black Beastie was refreshing on a blustery afternoon.

Service appalling, beer bland, whole place littered with empty glasses and beer drenched tables. A must visit !

Sorry for not responding earlier PubbCrawlerOne.
I've no problem with any Irish community anywhere. I thought my post was self explanatory in that if a pub has a lot of Irish customers, it doesn't have to bother with a good choice of real ales. You'll find this in every pub with a large Irish clientele. Most Irish drinkers tend to drink lager or Guinness, in that order.
shakespiers - 12 Nov 2010 17:47
A good Wetherspoons and to be honest, one of the better pubs in Worthing.

Friendly staff and great prices on food and drink.

Shakespiers, do you have a problem with the Irish Community?
PubbCrawlerOne - 13 Aug 2010 12:23
A rubbish selection of real ales and, as usual (like every other Spoons in the country), plenty of Irish customers drinking lager. I opted for Villa Maria sauvignon blanc which is always a good fall back in a Spoons that doesn't do beer.
I won't be rushing back.

Dropped in a couple of times last week (Late May). Can't argue with the prices of food or beer. Not as big as some other Spoons we've visited and consequently the real ale selection wasn't plentiful. That said, we did find a few new local brews. As is typical with this brand, it's a case of Wetherspoons Roulette which determines if your visit is overshadowed by a table full of foul mouth chavs - (Not this time luckily !). Always impressed with 99% of the staff when it comes to their ale knowledge.

A typical Wetherspoons. I'm now sure how they managed it but it is the exact same layout as one in Wakefield. As always with Wethers, a pleasant drop and reliable for a bite.

Nice cheap place. Staff friendly. Shame about the smokers huddled around the door as it can be off putting but poor things - where else can they smoke these days since the stupid smoking ban.
Angieb - 8 Mar 2009 13:06
Recently heard a US tourist moaning about happy hour beer at 1.80!
Uncle_Dunkel - 22 Jan 2008 13:45
Chain pub or not, it's a decent enough place, clean, prices are reasonable enough (won't give US tourists fits) , beer was good, does not have outdoor seating.
tubezone - 4 Nov 2007 17:12
As Wetherspoons go allways found it ok - good meeting point before doing the other chain bars on Worthings strip. Beer is cheap as well so you can't knock it to much. Not as much scum as people make out in here most of them are in Yates.
zamora250 - 27 Apr 2007 21:31
Long waits at the bar sometimes - alright to hang about for a spookily quiet pint. Some strange sorts hang out there in the smoking section (while it lasts) but that makes it kinda interesting.

Try the breakfast !! Saturday morning 9am, fry up & a pint of bitter, wine for the lady......Fantastic !!!
Raykay - 25 Jan 2007 23:02
UM, Well what did you expect. You dont need this one reviewed, just go in the one near you, there all the same. I know there clones of each other but at least there not a rip off, you get bloody cheep drinks and half decent grub and they even try to make there pubs look like pubs. This one is no different than the rest.
forresearchpurposesonly - 21 Aug 2006 00:01
Usual Wetherspoons Pub.....Gorillas on the door weekends......
Raykay - 30 Dec 2005 16:27
This pub is amazing! Not really, its Wetherspoons.
Eugene_Fraxby - 14 Mar 2005 20:44
Reasonable for a JDW pub-ale usually ok,service questionable due to inadequate staffing levels.
alan - 12 Oct 2004 10:33
