Ember Inns pub that focuses heavily on dining. 4 standard ales were on - Brakspear Bitter, Morland Old Speckled Hen, Adnams Broadside & Sharps Doom Bar. The interior is nice enough, albeit fairly anodyne. Preferred the Beehive across the road.

Excellent pub with good service and well kept beers, I dont often use branded pubs but this one was a plesure. Attentive staff, bright, tasty real ale and food was good although some items look to be a ding job. I had steak and chips and the steak was well cooked and crispy chips with a excellent pepper sauce. I would recommend this pub greatly but watch out for the dragon!

I didn't try this for a few years as it has the look from the outside of a Harvester, which is great for friends with kids but not somewhere I'd ordinarily choose for a drink. But the wife and I did go in for a late evening meal and glad that we did. Nothing special but we were made welcome, the guest ale was quite drinkable and the food much better than I had expected. Not the best pub around but was pleasant enough.

We go to the Stag and Hounds about once a week for lunch and 8/10 times they get the food order correct and bring it out quickly. As we have to be back to work within the hour we do not have the luxury of waiting around for our food. The other 2/10 they either take 45 minutes to cook the food/ bring it out or they get it slightly wrong (ie serving the burger with horseradish sauce even though you asked for it without!) Nothing major but still an annoyance! On the whole though it's a nice quiet pub with very comfy sofas and a reasonable garden. Staff are normally friendly enough and is not too overpriced, though would not say it is a cheap lunch!

Now the concept behind B.I.T.E. is a brilliant one in that it provides a vehicle for the beer drinking Joe Public to share their experiences with the great unwashed on those wonderful institutions, the British Pub. And thus provide guidance on those which are good and those which are not so good.
However, as it is free to all it is sometimes open to abuse.
Primarily from A) Owners or Publicans who register to big up their own establishments, usually under multiple personalities or B) disgruntled former employees/locals who have been sacked/barred for general incompetence/unsocial behaviour and register to leave vitriolic and personal comment sometimes bordering on libellous.
Fortunately these are usually very easy to spot as in the case below, where exlocal (a clue in the handle chosen me thinks) has only ever posted the comments to this one pub on the day that they first registered on B.I.T.E. and clearly falls into the second category and therefore should be totally ignored. It is a sad fact that human nature, being what it is, leads people to act in this moronic way.
I can state that I do not fall into either of the categories above and can therefore leave a more balanced comment which may be more useful for those who are unfamiliar with the Stag and Hounds.
I visited on a mid week lunchtime a couple of weeks ago to meet with a bunch of OAPs I know and who visit the Stag and Hounds on a weekly basis for lunch and a few beers. Now these gentleman are firmly in the Victor Meldew on a state pension mould and if there had been anything perceivably wrong with the varied meals and beers these gentlemen consumed during this session, then they would have been straight up the bar giving the bar staff the full I Dont Believe It ! experience. There wasnt and they werent. And also the couple of pints of the guest ale that I tried on the day were perfectly fine.
So I can report that, whilst the Stag and Hounds is not a brilliant pub, it remains as a solid public house providing a good service to the deserving clientele of Bush Hill Park and Edmonton.

ps the landlady is the rudest, most lazy, incapable person one could meet.

before the present landlady took over was just about bearable, now its on the verge of terrible. When you eventually get served, which is a feat in its own right, the lager is probably the worst i have ever witnessed and when i went on real ale, lets just say it went straight through me.
I don't know why, but i thought id try a bit to eat, a lasagne i thought- on sending it back three times as it was obviously not microwaved enough, i then found a lump of plastic with all the packaging details on it, obviously microwaved rubbish.I would never go back.

Not been in for many years but quite surprised to find it little changed other than the staff. Still a friendly pub with good beer and a modest menu.

Have popped in a couple of times over this summer (or lack of summer to be more accurate ).
Can report that the beer and food remain good. Have had a nice pint of pride on all occasions.
I believe the current landlady is fairly recent (within the last six months), but seems to be running a good ship and the service and staff were friendly and efficient.

Nice food and a really good selection of real ales, but not big on atmosphere. Certainly the best pub in this area though. Friendly staff too.

No problem with air conditioning during the winter, and sitting by the fire was lovely!

Come here on Tuesdays for the Quiz night. I should do better, but members of my team come out with some right rubbish.

Can take an age to get served - though never been on any other night - and no air conditioning, which during the Hot Summer of '06 makes for a sauna. Curiously the windows can't even be opened!

Plenty of people in the beer Garden. Can't think of any other in the area that have a grassy beer garden.

Very nice pub, havent got a bad word to say about it.

The food's nice, the beer's nice and the service is always friendly.

Beer garden too although depending on the time of day it can get a little noisy from the traffic.

Always had a strange desire to steal one of the logs though.

Hmmmmmmmm.
