Stick Or Twist, Leedsback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
The review below me still rings true 3 and a half years on. The building is ugly from the outside with quite a large outdoor seating area (which I'm sure is great on a summers day). The inside is one large room (although not as big as I was expecting it to be when I was outside). When I was in it was mostly workmen, old lads in when I was here. I'm sure there can be plenty of interesting characters in here being right next to the Merrion centre, although the atmosphere was very relaxed when I was in. The tellies were on when I was in with BBC news playing, a few fruit machines and the standard pictures with local history that most spoons seem to have. Ales on were- Greene King IPA, Abbot ale, Doom Bar, Jarilo by Elland brewery, Snowdrop by Osset brewery and a few other beers that I didn't note down (1 from Bridge house brewery and another was from Butcombe). I went for the Snowdrop at 2.65 and it was a nice pint and very well kept. I would say that no one should be put off by the exterior of this place as it must be one of the best Wetherspoons for ale.

Excellent pub. CAMRA Pub of the Season Winter 2012?
It's a Wetherspoons so it's well priced, the building is ugly as you can see by the pictures, these are important but what distinguishes this pub apart is what the current people are doing with it.
Somebody is really looking after the beer in this place, with 10 real ales on hand pump even on very busy days; it's not often that their high standards drop. On the beer front this pub does everything right, a good selection with lots of local beers including a reasonable selection of bottles and the staff are knowledgeable. There is a good amount of advertising their festivals and events in the pub which is a nice touch in my opinion.
An unattractive building in the centre of Leeds, a bit hidden out the way of the crowds (before the Arena). Does what a Wetherspoons does for most things, but the beer is up there with the best in Leeds. A must try for Ale Lovers who want a cheap pint but can't compromise on their beer quality or choice.

A down-to-earth place serving great beer. My last two visits have treated me to Kelham Island's "White Falcon" and Woodforde's "Sundew", both of which were absolutely amazing beers that I could have enjoyed all day. The punters in this establishment can be a bit rough and ready, but I prefer that to those you get in the 3 a pint places.

Terrible! Very very rude bar staff, terrible food even by wetherspoons standards and a really bad atmosphere. The place was full of idiot's! Avoid this place like the plague!!!

The scaffolding outside has now been removed (was it used for anything?)
|
The scaffolding has gone but Mani is still there thank god, and the barmaid with the pigtails (how hot does she not realise she is?). Not bad, funny smell midweek when it's full of the tramps and lowlifes from the nearby exurbs, but abolutely rammed full of skirt most weekends

Covered in scaffolding when visited but was still open as normal. Had a beautiful pint of Kelham Island "White Rider" served quickly by the friendly barmaid. 8/10
