The Snakebite and Black's still lethally good value, but shutting the downstars bar (and the alternative nights/gigs that went with it) is short-sighted and takes away some of the pub's uniqueness.

probably the best club in aber, good tunes, good dancefloor, just a dubious clientele. place where you will find the more alternative indie students and locals, and if you aren't looking for the usual dance/r'n'b crowd, good place to finish the night

The first place in Aberystwyth to house Absinthe, at 3 a shot a bargain. Not sure if it still has it.
I regularly visit here when I return to Aber as it is always full at the weekend. Got a couple of dance floors always spinning some monster tracks. Beer is pretty standard nightclub fare, couple of TVs in the front to keep up with current affairs.

Ah, this place is legend. Dance stuff downstairs, cheese and Indie upstairs. Yer general Indie scruffs pull up here and bring a machete to cut through the smoke...Roy Castle would spin if he saw this place.
Don't forget to check out the Titanic (in age) handryer in the gents, Aled the pikey landlord and all the kids getting REALLY messed up (like Sion of the Dead) on snakebite & black and whatever foreign version of meths they've got in that week.
I spent 5 yesr in here, and can only remember a few hours.

Upstairs is a pleasant bar with very reasonable prices, downstairs is the headquarters of Aber's underground dance music scene with Brains for less than two quid. One can therefore drink away to one's content all the while listening to some "phat tunes" and "blazin'" trance anthems. Excellent.
