Bull, Newmarketback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Ona weekend break last Saturday, we were insulted and shouted at by an employee of the company. It ws a freezing cold evening and the DJ propped the door wide open and disappeared outside to get his gear. M husband closed the door after a while and when the man came back he asked us if we had closed the door and then swore called my husband a number of insulting names - just for closing te door! My husband took his cider back to the bar (is was quite flat when he got it, as he suspected they had used a wet glass but he was not going t complain), and was told basically, that th DJ can say what he likes to customers and they can't do anything about it! It's a shame - it might have been OK otherwise.

The beer is of fantastic quality with an amazing selection. The staff were well mannered and served with a smile. With this in mind, it was a very retro/old fashion atmosphere where a casual drink or a slightly larger occasion could both be on the cards. As an overall, the best pub within the small town of newmarket i would say! Furthermore, i would fully reccomend it to all seeking a welcoming environment.

AS A BIT OF A BEER MONSTER, I'D HAVE TO SAY " THE BULL " IS A GOOD, WELL RUN, CLEAN PUB. I GIVE CREDIT TO THE STAFF WHO MANAGE AND WORK THERE. THE BEER IS EXCELLANT, WELL KEPT AND SERVED JUST RIGHT.

GK pub almost next door to the Golden Lion.
I know which pub I prefer.

A traditional old pub in Newmarket High Street. Only G/K IPA on hand pump here. I seem to remember quite a number of G/K IPA pump clips on every other hand pump as well. The barman serving seemed to have a good eye for who was next in order to be served. On last Fridays N/M pub crawl we were only having halves in pubs serving only IPA. Like most Newmarket pubs a number of racing pictures adorn the walls. To the side of the bar there was an open hatch which showed a number of customers out in the courtyard seated area.
