the Loose Cannon is a gem. My friends from the banks drink in their and rave about the poker?> I dont like the back bar, looks to 1970s for me but the staff are all friendly and its a very weird kinda place when everything shakes because a Cannon Street train is running overhead.

Can't believe people found the staff rude - this was one of our old meeting places and the staff were always great. RIP another one of my boozers (I'm getting old).

I actually loved the dear old Cannon! The staff were great as far as I am concerned, Bazza, Shazza,Razza and the gang!! And my good mate Debs used to work there. Had many a happy time downing G&T's there. Can't believe it's closed down boooohoooo

Karma Police shut 'em down, I reckon!
Bunch of shysters.

Closed down.

Complete waste of space. Possibly the rudest staff I have ever encountered in my lengthy drinking career. On my sole visit the this dive, one of the barmaids unplugged the Golden Tee golf game at 8pm in the evening, without warning, as she was 'closing'. Foul establishment.

It's a pub where workers go for a pint before catching the cattle wagons out of Cannon Street. Beer OK, atmosphere a bit smokey. Overall OK, but there are better boozers in the area.

Had to resort to this place as the Banker round the corner is closed for a refurb and I'd rather peel myself with a plastic spoon than go into the ABO next door. The Cannon was full of middle aged, balding, beer bellied losers in cheap suits delaying getting on their train home to their crap lives. Beer below average - still, London Pride only 2.40 a pint so not too bad. This place may just as well not be here (except it keeps aforementioned losers out of the Banker.)

the cannon is like a refuge for the normal man in the city,.......if you are a stranger in this neck of the woods and feel like you may fly of the handle at any moment at all the unchecked egos around you,..head here for a nice reality check,...maybe brick the All bar one en route.

A very nice pub. Food takes a little while to arrive but when it does it's very good. Standard lagers but at 1.80 for a pint of Carlsberg and 2.00 for Fosters all the time it's excellent value. Good location for city workers and people who've just arrived in Cannon Street, and has a lot more character than most of the horrific gastropubs in the area. They've recently installed a pool table in the front section where the football is shown. My only complaint is that there isn't enough seating, but I suppose if there were you couldn't fit as many people in. 8/10

Cheap as chips - even cheaper than Wetherspoons and without the Wethertramps! At the time of writing the prices are 2 for a double, proper spirit & mixer, 5+ for a decent bottle of wine and 2.50 for a pint. I enjoyed a very nice Rioja in here for 6.
Fantastic, and "no nonsense" just as krylon76 (below) suggests.

Decent enough drinker.
City crowd as you woud expect, towards the 'no nonsense drinking' end of the scale.
Haf decent bit of grub also at lunchtimes.
Have a pint here if you can't face going into the awful All Bar One in Cannon Street.
