please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Like many I went down on the opening night of the new Tavern (19/08/2013) and I cannot really beleive it is the same place. I spoke to many of the folk their and they said the food was great, after a short time I got my own food and agreed with their statements. I think bigboyj's review is a little harsh, it was opening night, the place was absolutely rammed and all the staff are new. Give it a week or two to settle in and everything will have settled in.

Everyone seemed happy with the place and no doubt it will do well as it is now a great place to go :)

The old Keyworth Tavern was very old and was a real mess so it was nice to visit the newly refurbished one today. We walked in and it has been done up to a very nice and high standard which includes the bars and all seating areas and even the toilets. It was a nice atmosphere and a nice place to sit.

Unfortunitly that is it for the positives. We were there for about an hour and a half as we were eating and having a drink and in that time we did not see one of the staff smile including the people in charge. We ordered food at the bar along with drinks and the soft drinks consisted of 90% ice and 10% Pepsi which was made even better by the fact we said no to ice. When the food came I was really surprised about the portion sizes as the kids meals had more food on the plates than the expensive adult meals and this is the first time ever i have walked away from a pub hungry even after side orders as well. I had a tiny bit of chicken on my plate that was burnt and was so chewy and tough and tasted like charcoal. The chunky chips were nice but the fact there was only 7 on my huge plate just made me laugh.

We thought the menu was ok but we personally think it is too posh and too pricey for what we got and were put off by the fact a few pub classics were missing and also no where on the sunday lunch menu does it say chicken or turkey which is the only sunday lunch meat item my family eat so there goes eating there on a sunday.

On the whole theyve done wonders in making the place look and feel great but they need to work on the staff and get them looking happy and enjoying the job which hopefully is just down to being new and also they need to work on the quality and quantity of the food which I hope was just a one off today and will be nicer in the future because it was no where near as nice as the food is at the Salutation inn in Keyworth at the moment.

Rated it a 7 due to it looking great but lacking on the food side but hopefully next time we go the food will be nicer in both quality and quantity so I will be able to change my rating.

The Keyworth Tavern reopened last night (Monday 19th August 2013) after what seemed like forever. The pub was closed for a major redevelopment and is now totally unrecognisable… in a good way. The refurbishment has taken over six weeks and has cost over £300k

The menu is amazing and we has the Rib Eye steak, medium, served with the chunkiest chips you've ever seen!! They now have four cask ale including two from local brewer Castle Rock. It was really busy and the atmosphere was electric. This is just what the village needed and I can see folk travelling to it from surrounding villages such as Ruddington, Bunny and Tollerton ;)

In response to past negative comments, the lounge is suitable for families and is clean, tidy with a warm and welcomng atmosphere, the bar is a clean bar and was being re-decorated on my 1st visit and spacious. The overall feel of the pub feels like the heart of a community. It provides a smoking shelter and plenty of car park spaces. overall a pub i find very pleasant

Ooops sorry...meant to say the Griffin in Plumtree, not the Plough!

Been to this pub a few times when visiting relatives over the last few years: can't say it impressed me much. Well actually, if I'm being honest, we avoid it at all costs!

Sorry but I really don't like this pub: the bar is basic but OK, the lounge is tired and worn and the regulars aren't particularly welcoming to strangers. Would much rather take a (long) walk down to the Plough in Plumtree.

Harsh words. Funny how the really poor ones are usually anonymous.

Unpretentious local boozer. The back bar is a bit spit and sawdust (well, Sky Sports and pool). The front bar is actually quite chinzy. Decent old crowd of regulars around the bar and some good craic.

Terrible pub - no atmosphere, rough clientele, decor leaves a lot to be desired.
