Yes both recent reviews are correct. Used to have a great time here a couple of years ago. No crap over membership or paying to get in if you were "with the band",great London Pride (in feckin Crewe!!!) and Salopian ale. Good attitudes all around. Now,they can't even book bands properly-the management are like the Stazi and its far too pricey for Crewe. Ah well.

too many hairyheads and the beer has gone shite

All the reviews below represent the Limelight of old. Unfortunately, it is now under new management which is displaying what can only be called a negative midas touch.
Membership and ticket prices have soared (7.50 for one year membership, up from 5), the variety of bands has shrunk (it's mostly lumpen 70's style hard rock/hair metal these days), and don't bother asking the DJ for a request as he's under orders to play what the owner wants to hear or what the owner has told him to play.
So many of the things that made the Limelight great have gone or are disappearing. I doubt I'll be going back in a hurry.

A fantastic pub. Pool tables, pinball, quiz machines, fruit machines, good beer, good live music, great jukebox, nice staff. What more could anyone want? Always a pleasure to go into the Limelight.

Probably among the best live music venues anywhere in the country, good beer too, a diamond.

very good ale very good music and a great night out no matter what day you decide to go on

Nice place, bit of a labyrinth, but I'm sure regulars know their way from room to room. Enjoyed a few pints of Speckled Hen and London Pride in there. The live background music was an added bonus, as well as food being available 'till late. I plan to return next time I am in Crewe

Cant fault it. Initially a rock club but now mixed with mainstream and ever expanding. Speckled Hen (known as chicken), colourful managers and an owner who can hold his own on the pool table too, of which there are several. Many's the time the average age has been 30+ which says something for the way it is kept.

Unusually for any popular music club anywhere, in that it serves decent beer. London Pride, Speckled Hen and guest ales. As a music club obviously a bit noisy, but comfortable quieter areas to sit if that's your thing. Thoroughly recommended.

I've been all around the country , always on the lookout for places that play good live music. The Limelight is the best I have ever seen. It has affordable prices, at least one band every night, affordable prices and a good atmosphere.
