Has swung between being perfectly good and pretty awful over the last few years. Recently, it's been pretty good, with a reasonable choice of ales and very tasty pies, although service can be slow. Lively but with a few quieter corners, too. One of the better pubs around Broomhill.

Much improved since the landlord of the Cobden View took over. Better seating inside than before, i.e. you can sit down. Decent range of ales deuchards, old perculiar, black sheep but could always have some guest ales.
Food. Excellent locally made pies. Uncle Albert or something like that. Very tasty and reasonably priced.
Apparently has a popular sports quiz mondays and enetertainment quiz sunday nights.

Tired and disappointing battle cruiser full of annoying students. Woeful ale selection - despite having at least 6 handpumps, only Deuchars, Black Sheep, Landlord and sometimes Old Peculiar feature. I reluctantly plumped for the Deuchars - 2.70 a go and the worst pint of the normally reliable Deuchars I have ever had. I quickly enveloped said pint and was on my within 5 minutes, not to return. Beware, this pub is a focal point for University socials - so avoid on all weekday evenings, for there are idiots everywhere.

Fine. Imposing landlord (I think he was) serving perfectly acceptable Timothy Taylor landlord. Food is pies only which I approve of. Far too many pubs have lengthy menus. Fresh food? yeah, right. Clean and tidy, I imagine this is a very pleasant place to spend an evening with a few pals. Perhaps an interesting guest ale would liven the bar up. Wines looked very good value.

Used to be brilliant (circa 05/06) but is now a shadow of its former self. Successive landlords have managed to perform the impressive feat of losing money from a pub that is slap bang in the middle of the most populous student area in Sheffield. This incompetence beggars belief.

This pub is closed (16/5/2008) although I hear it is to re-open. This was a classic example of how to run down a pub from a thriving locals meeting place in the 80's early 90's to studenty music venue late 90's and early 2000s to devoid of both types of customers in the 2007/8 with Staff that clearly just didn't care to the point of being abrupt and almost insulted that you could want serving. The place became scruffy and looked like the inside of a dirty warehouse. There's too much competition in Broomhill to allow pubs to be run like that and sure enough The Notty went under. Here's hoping that any future management learn from previous mistakes.

Awful pub. Full of students. Beer is average at best.

Spent many a good evening there in the 90s - only complaint was John the landlord always calling time far too early.
