Wetherspoons have decided to sell this unit.

Well its cheap, but the staff are still clueless the beer generally ok and the loos are clean. The pub smells ss though it needs a new carpet, this one is full. Food is hit and miss, steak was ok, fish and chips edible. As per wetherspoons latest craze, the beers are rammed through a sparkler, so plenty of waste (both beer and time) and no condition.

I agree with Ade about the staff: they are in the main- certainly the girls- sullen, uninterested & unable to gauge a queue. It's simply crass & unprofessional to say 'Who's next?' when it's not even busy or pressurised, as in the morning 10amish. They also seem to have problems understanding simple breakfast food orders which I make. I've had nothing but a bad vibe from the counter in my last four or five visits, & go there only because I have to meet someone who lives locally.

OK, it's a Wetherspoons, some are better than others....
I popped in for a quick beer whilst waiting for the other half. A decent choice of ales on and I opted for an Italian named porter brewed by Shepherd Neame, very nice at £1.99, say a 7 out of 10.
However, then we come to the staff, the chap behind the bar looked like a cheap and nasty extra from Buffy, someone should have told him Halloween was the day before.
Two from three of the barmaids were about as disinterested as they could be in serving their customers, even those who were actually trying to be pleasant to them!
Not one to rush back to!

I do not intend to eat in this pub again. The best I can say for the food was that it was cheap. However friendly service and no loud musik at lunchtime.
|
food is ok, but on most evenings, especially friday and saturday prepare to be joined by the scum of the surrounding areas. under age drinkers and drunken yobs a plenty. Prices are good, but the crown are absolutely vile. staff are good and helpful.

Unexceptional Wetherspoons, with many of the usual beer offerings plus two ales from the nearby Marlow Brewery (with the Rebellion Investors Revenge proving a good choice). Could have done without the oiks smoking in the large open doorway at the front.

An ok pub visited On a Tuesday night for there Grill Club food all ok and Guinness kept well. Pub wasnt too busy and had a varried age group of customers. Good to see a working manager clearing tables and serving (Watford Moon take note) Only criticism is that they encourage you to order the dessert when you place the main meal order and in fact you save money by doing so...trouble is they forget to bring you the dessert and you still end up going to the bar to jog their memory. Aprt from that all in not too bad and would visit again if in the area.

As with a lot of the Weatherspoons pubs, the Penny has a great selection of real ales. Most of the staff are quite friendly and the food is everything you'd expect from Weatherspoons.
|
Further to my previous review, I'd like to say that currently there just aren't enough staff - they are losing custom because people are getting fed up with waiting to be served and walking out; the staff there are fine, we just need more of them!

After visiting about 8 Spoons during my last holiday (june/july 2007 and many more in the years before) I can only come to one conclusion: This is the worst Wetherspoons I've ever been to! No chracter, lots of noisy youngsters, glass smashing on the doorstep... Pity! Most Spoons are well worth a visit, this one ins't!

Thought we would try this pub out as one of the first round here to be smoke free. Usual drinks and food offers. We decided to eat and had to rethink our choices twice as out of quite a few main items off the menu.Poor girlfriend had to have chips as no jacket potatoes bless her. Not good being as it was a quiet Monday afternoon.Food arrived nice and hot although a few more chips wouldnt of gone a miss on the mixed grill all in all food was good and cheap for what we did receive.Bar area was clean didnt check out the loo's so can't comment on them Will use again if back in Ricky.

ahh the pennsylvannia. booze is dirt cheap-especially on mondays and the "beat the barman" challenge (if you win the toss of a coin your round is doubled!). I used to go here whilst I was in sixth form and thought it was great, i guess i had some good times there. Looking back this place is a hole and really smells (this is true-the toilets overflowed and started leaking through the ceiling into the bar area once). The beer and burger for a fiver is a plus. but at the end of the day know what to expect from a wetherspoons. pretty dry atmosphere.

Great non-smoking pub, friendly staff, busy with people eating but big enough to always get a seat.
The only thing I don't like are the two screens with sky news and subtitles, can't they just turn them on for the rugby/football, etc?
There's a quiz night, I think on Mondays, and the usual good weatherspoons food nights.
Apart from that, I would recommend it to anyone.

Best pub in Rickmansworth town centre I'd say.

very pleasant find, spacious, non-smoking, well kep beers, friendly fast service, rubbed my eyes and blinked, blinked again - yes its a Wetherspoons !!

One of my favourite pubs. It has the usual good cheap drinks you would expect from any moons but with much more. The pub is located on the high street, very close to local car parks, and a 2min walk from the Station. Inside the pub is well decorated and it has a fab bar, and the staff all seem pleasant. The food which I often go in for is always good. Later openings Fri - Sat till 1am which is also very handy. They have a plasma TV which seems to always have Sky News on mute which seems a bit odd, but they were advertising the Rugby last week so it must be used at some points!

A non-smoking pub - great to see. Excellent central location and low prices.
Very nicely decorated, good atmosphere and lots of space. Usually has a fair number of real ales but it's rare to find something unusual. It would be nice to see them replace some of the boring regulars such as London Pride and Courage with beers from micro-breweries. At worst there's the Kronenbourg Blanc to fall back on, so it's not so bad.
Probably the best pub in Rickmansworth town centre and one of the best Wetherspoons around.

One of the non-smoking Wetherspoons pubs, which is doing well since introducing the ban. Real ales are in consistently good condition.

Nice bright and airy pub. Good aircon for packed weekends, food is good, with seasonal menus. Real ale, wide selection of largers and Pils. Very lovely ladies as well!
