After a brief closeure and change of Tenant, things are looking a liitle better, nicely kept ales and friendly service make it the preferred local.

No Thai resturant at this pub anymore

Visited this pub for the first time last week and only had 20 mins to form an opinion which was good. Friendly landlord, great buzz about the place with lots of locals in on a Thursday evening, and good beer. Seemed to be quite a few people in the Thai as well. Only downside was the toilets which were a bit basic and need updating. Would definitely like to go back though when I have more time to spare !

This is a really fab place. We went in for a Thai and it was fully booked but we ended up having a great night in the pub.
We booked the restaurant the next weekend it was just great and really authentic - the food is fantastic and its such a great atmosphere.
I really recommend it but do book on a Saturday night...

Totally agree with other recent reviews that this pub has been turned around. I popped in for a Thai takeaway recently and had a couple of drinks while waiting. All seemed friendly and beer was very good.

this pub has been turned around now the new landlady has taken over, the work that has been on the pub has made it look and feel like a proper homely pub again. The bar food is fantastic and cooked fresh. I would recommend the Sunday Roasts, which are as good as my late mum would cook, I eat there every time I go in. the Thai Restaurant on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights are worth a visit, but book first, as it gets full up very quickly. The landlady and bar staff make you feel very welcome as soon as you walk threw the door, the real ales they sell are brilliant and are changed quite often and the pub is not frightened to try new and local real ales, the bars and bar area's are always kept clean. In my view the Red Lion is the best pub in Swanley Village, and the local area and worth a visit.

Visited on a Mon lunchtime and it was like walking into a friendly living room! Nice locals and staff and good beer. This is a good pub now, in a nice location.

With new tenants, the Red Lion is making an effort and appears to be competing well against The Lamb.
The beers change frequently, usually two real ales on although they tend to be just running out when I visit ! Tribute and Ringwood Best last week for example.
Sunday Lunches are served at good value and the Thai Restaurant has had good reviews open thursday to saturday.
All in all a good recovery and worth a visit.

Karzee! dirty carpets, food bad, full of chav's and chav wannabies. Better to try the Lamb if you are after a country pub full of educated staff and clientelle in the same area.
red lion - one to avoid.
