Ales generally good, and well looked after. Shame about the average clientele though, single figure IQ plus man made fibre clothing, and lack of teeth.

my partner and her friend went to this spoons on the 3rd of april. they fancied something to eat and was told that there was only one cook, and that it would take 20 mins for their burger ( they both had the same ). 10 mins later it arrived. on the sunday both my partner and her friend were being sick and had to have the monday off after being up all night throwing up. don't eat at this shithole

Very disappointing Wetherspoon outlet. Choice was very limited on my visit: two adjacent pumps with Abbott Ale, one Ruddles Best, one Salopian ale that had 'gone', one 'coming soon' and one Everard's Beacon, which I had. Quality was okay, but 2.15 is at the higher end for JDW prices.

Pretty standard but quite large Wetherspoons with the typical plastic interior and usual run of ales (3 standard, 3 guests) and cheapo chav fuel. There is a beer garden to the rear but not exactly worthy of any attention other than for those who fancy a quick fag. Of more interest is the story behind the pubs name and the development of Garden Cities that can be found in the historical snippets on the walls along with the interesting photos of embryonic Letchworth straight off the builders lorry. The town has been decribed by various luminaries as a town for a simple life so Wetherspoons was always going to be a success here but as far as the chain goes, this is one of the more ordinary branches.

I can't disagree with any of the previous comments. The last time I went in there it was three deep at the bar with one person serving - regulars first - so I walked straight out again. Unfortunately you are not exactly spoilt for choice in Letchworth when it comes to having a pint.

No the best 'spoons by a long chalk, but a fairly decent pint of the reasonably well cared for real ale can be had (on a good day!).

It helps to be a regular if you want to get served, cheap beer, cheap surroundings!!

The staff are always quite friendly and the service is good. The Guinness (1.79 a pint on Mondays) has always been very good. I have only been there on weekday mid evenings.

Not known locally as the Giro club for nothing. If you want to see how the benefit scroungers of Letchworth spend their days and money this is the place to come.

Astounding range of great cheap beer, but takes for ever to get served. Usually busy until later in the evening when the chavs presumably head off to stevenage clubs ;), and other people go to pubs with a bit more character. Feels a bit like drinking beer in a shop rather than a pub, but the best place to start the evening or go on a budget. Now has big TVs, but no music (probably a good thing).

OK pub but the food is not great and it full of, how do i put it, extermly rude people, best place to go in letchworth is The Wilbury Pub.

Good for a wetherspoons, quick to get served and ive not noticed any 'undesirables' much better than the stevenage wetherspoons

Standard stuff from Weatherspoons, terrific value for money, Marstons at 1.39 a pint.

i like the magnets, i'm young and I work all week so to start the night off its good with cheap prices. I'm not bothered by the people, at the end of the day all you've gotta do is laugh at them, I mean look at them" Especially that crazy lady with long black hair, she should be barred.
if you want to start a night out, go early, about 7pm and it's just beginning to fill up, get the cheap ones in and head off from there! 7/10

Yeah this pub isnt the best, agree totally with Geordie. If you're after a fun place with lots of lovely people up for as laugh then avoid!
Jamesy77 - 21 Jan 2006 18:48
If you are interested in watching a load of dole bludgers spend your taxes then this is the place. Surly staff, surly customers but 50p a pint cheaper than anywhere else

Arrived on a very hot sunday afternoon, was like walking into the pub off American Warewolf in London!Moody bar staff and full of asbo's. Was asked to leave as one of group had shirt off(outside on pavement in 35 degrees).
