A clean and tidy, traditional pub. Only a couple of ales on, but lots of lager choice. Not sure re wine. 3 screens for sport and generally a friendly unpretentious atmosphere.

Great pub, good service, and sports

Too Irish for my liking.

I used the pub while the New Prince was being renovated. The real ale was Youngs and Doom Bar and for some real ale fans this may be disappointing. This is very much a suburban traditional, local, pub that is getting scarce as pubs close and turn into a Sizzling Steak House, apartments, and Sainsbury Locals. Comfortable, traditional pub with pleasant customers. Liked it.

Went back for the first time in a while last night. Still very busy but the beers were excellent which included Surrey Hills Shere Drop.

Had some good times in here in the past and the refit of a couple of year ago has done the pub a treat, they now do food, and this has increased trade accordingly. Haven't used it for about 18 months though as I have been away but am now back and may well give it a go again soon.

my nearest pub, but it is so so bland, nothing actually bad about the place but just nothing that grabs my interest, so I just walk past
|
I like this place on first ever visit, a trad looking "calm session" pub, shouldn't work with the traffic but even the beer garden was good, will defo be back.

Now Charlie has taken over, this is going to be the best pub in Surbiton. He's got Doom Bar on. He'll put the rugby on for you. His Sunday lunches are excellent (I went for the full 3 courses and left happy and with a full stomach). His barmaids are not only gorgeous, but very friendly and helpful too - such a great welcome to be smiled at when you arrive at the bar! I must get down there again soon.

Had some dinner and it was very nice and very cheap.
Once again great service and friendly staff. This pub clearly shows that it pays off to look after your customers. Great atmosphere on a friday night will a great variety of people!
fun times. good price for a round as well 5 drinks 15 seems fair 2 me.

Went to this pub for the first time in years! VERY IMPRESSED. friendly staff that like to have a chat, nice drinks, nice decor, parking and football.
Eating there tonight!

For years I've driven past this pub but never ventured in. It always looked a bit shabby from the outside and, quite frankly, that put me off.
Visited last night for the first time, not expecting much. But I was pleasantly surprised. A neat little boozer with friendly staff and customers. Not at all the down-at-heel flea-pit I was expecting. Even the presence of two dart-boards and a pool table - usually things that attract "that crowd" - did not affect the good-natured atmosphere.
Given the state of some of the pubs in Surbiton and Tolworth, The Maypole is well worth searching out.

New gaffer who is spending some much needed cash improving the boozer, very friendy pub now offering accomadation. should be well worth a visit once improvements are finished in the mean time a good craic!

Great Boozer. Two dart Boards and friendly bar staff. Landlord is Chelsea but then no one is perfect!!! Sky Tv is top notch and their is always a friendly welcome and it also has an extension and doesnt shut until 12. This is my local and I will continue to drink copious amounts of alcohol as often as possible and whip everyone at Darts.

Rather tatty-looking but this belies a decent local pub where three ales are on song. All power to the new team who have been there a year now.
|
A basic local booser in need of a bit of TLC. Furnishings and decor not very inviting. Unlikely to appeal to women unless they are the type that like standing at the bar. Flowers Original beer was good though.

After hearing about the Maypole quiz on a tuesday night, me and some mates thought we'd give it a try. It was great fun and the quiz master was a good laugh. The questions were mixed for all kinds of different people and we had a great laugh. The beer wasnt too expensive and there was much choice. The other punters were friendly as were the bar staff. I'm going back next tuesday thats for sure

This pub is great, I avoided it for ages as frankly in its previous incarnation it was god-awful. But now it's a great little boozer. The bar staff are friendly and have a wicked sense of humour, and despite my infrequent occurance, seem to remember my favoured tipple, something that always brings a smile to my face. The beer is good, Flowers and Pride, ok nothing flash, but both well cared for. The big screen TV is there for those who love their sport but doesn't impose on those who want to pop in for a quite drink on a match day, and the punters are social and friendly even after the worst hammering. A really good pub in Surbiton, I reccomend it highly.

The Maypole has just changed hands and the new landlord is a real good laugh. He has football on the tele, good selection of music in the evening and has a fab sense of humour. The pub is clean and tidy and the bar staff are very friendly. If you had doubts about this pub before maybe you should check it out now its got a new guvnor! :)

We thought everything about this pub was grotty. Service terrible and rude, beer pretty ghastly, very smokey and a poor atmosphere and we did not feel welcome. Toilets and pub filthy. It is one to avoid at all costs and we would award it "Nil" points for everything.
|
Definitely an old mans' pub. Big TV screen and people playing cards (looked like brag?). A bit scruffy but no worse than many. Only 2 beers on tap when I went there (Youngs Ordinary & Flowers). Had to ask for them to be topped up - but there again, when the barrel ran out & they were cleaning the pipes, the barman went & drew 3 pints from the barrel for us to save us waiting. One major advantage - No children allowed!
|
Loads of tellies for the footie - shame about the rude bar staff
|
This pub is awful and is to be avoided at all costs. How it survives is beyond me. It has a dreadful atmosphere and is locally yokally beyond belief. I found it to be unfriendly, full of sad old men and greaseboy youth all wishing they were cockneys. I do admit that it has been a fair few years since I last had the displeasure to be here, but I cannot imagine that any one in Surby with more than 10 sovs in the Natwest would bother wasting their time in here. It is time this place was closed and a giant statue commerating The Good Life was placed there instead. Avoid - life is too short.

Thsi pub is a gem. this pub lives for sport, drinking and banter. Good solid range of drinks, soccer am on the tv, and one of the funniest landlords I have ever met. House doubles always helps a pub too I feel. Have only been here onc, but it's heroic, you must try it.

Bit of old mans pub, but ok for a quiet drink and catching up with your mates

Nice friendly, old fashioned pub. Bit like a local pub for local people though, but you still feel welcome.

Not good - limited choice of beer (& short measures).
