Came to Great Yarmouth for the day last Saturday after a long absence. Popped in this 'Spoons and was amazed by the size. Is it the biggest one in Britain? Unfortunately I was driving that day so had to content myself with coffee, but was very impressed by the place. Will be back in summer and not driving next time!

Nothing wrong with this pub at all. If I'm in Yarmouth for the day I usually pop into the Troll Cart for a couple of swift halves.

enjoyed a few pints in here last week, adnams ghost ship, nethergate growler and mauldons silver adder at £2.15 all very good.always busy on my visits, but service was good.still selling mini cheddars which my local spoons in Sutton have stopped.handy with cab rank and bus station outside.

Nothing much to add really.

Do the couple with the lady in the wheelchair still go there? She seems perfectly capable of walking, and gets up and goes outside for a smoke whenever he's at the bar or in the WCs. They seem to entertain themselves by mouthing off at anyone they've not seen before.

"Troll Cart" says it all, really...

Went here on Jubilee Sunday with my wife and elderly in-laws. Being a bank holiday it was packed with National anthem singing revellers, but we had no trouble finding a seat. There was a good selection of ales, I had the Woodforde Nelson, which was fine. Our food was adequate - the joy being that you know what to expect in a Weatherspoons pub. Mum in-law enjoyed her salmon, Dad in-law was amazed that he got 11 pieces of scampi, my Chicken Masalla was the same as it ever is. Service was prompt, considering that the pub was busy. I would never knock a 'Spoons pub. They've good it down to a fine art.

Typical Weatherspoon's, says it all. Busiest pub in Great Yarmouth presumably because it's the cheapest. Smaller choice of real ales than usual in a Weatherspoon's.

Yet another Wetherspoons where the bar staff serve in front of us and them walk away when their 'friends' are served. This happens too often. Toim Martin, get your act together. Our money is just as good elsewhere. We didnt spend a penny all week in Yarmouth. She was a studenty type by the way.

Called in May 2010, whilst cycling the coast of the UK.
Saturday bank holiday place was rammed with characters dressed up as donkeys, wild west and Jesse James - take it the stag nights have returned to the East coast.

Found a couple of chairs, orders dinner, quickly served, plenty of staff on, food arrived within 10 mins, no complainants as to quality and speed.
Ale nothing special, but it's cheap, as per previous comments plenty of characters about to keep you entertained. Including two gentleman so plastered, after drink jugs of methylated spirits (OK its was blue in colour), that after passing out, their mates would come over and pinch the jugs, not much sense in leaving it to waste is there!
Oh - on strange thing that happens is you see a bunch of people, leave, some 30 mins latter, they all return tank up again, depart for another hour return, this happens all night. Is it that you get tanked up at Spoon's, down one expensive pint/shoot at a club , pass back through town, so might as well refuel again at a cheap place ?

went in mid-week afternoon. the place was full with no seat to be had just had pint of abbott which seem expensive by jd prices at 2-10 a pint. which was ok.average jd pub

Great pub but expect it busy in the summer with holiday makers.

Inevitably tried this 'spoons offering once at the weekend. Fair choice of ales (5) but served poorly by the young wenches behind the bar. Typical setup with beer saturated carpets and tables. Made a change not to have to struggle up or down stairs to get to the toilets! Most 'spoons seem to make you wish you went to the loo before that last beer!

Cheap food and cheap beer.Good selection of real ales. The only problem is that it attracts some scummy people because of the price.Great location as you can watch all the ratboy chavs play up across the road at McDonalds and KFC.Plus you can watch all the obese, jewellery bedecked single Mums push their black babies in their prams to Poundland.
Back to the pub.Allways busy, staff are under pressure to get people served and there is a heavy rotation of staff so that means there must be a problem somewhere?? Well it is a Wetherspoons! Best in the winter when its not full.

stayed in yarmouth last week and ended up eating in there rvery night, first night Wrdnesday had a lovely pint of Abbott reserve which I've never seen before and at 6.7% needs respect, the food was great and the young bar staff were really great, although it was busy they served you in turn the tables were clean and the atmosphere was good, as spoons go this was one of the best i've been in

Not quite as bad as the Basildon Wetherspoons but not far off it.

AVOID

I Drink in the Troll quite regular now and am seeing improvements constantly. speaking to staff you dont realise the pressure these guys are put under. it isn't their fault there never seem to be enough staff on. when you take this into account then i think they all do a fantastic job. great selection of beers 95% of the time and all of the menu seems to be available when i order food(once a week).
Leeroybrown - 11 Mar 2008 12:49
Never mind sunday lunch times just avoid all together.
phaser - 31 Jan 2008 16:40

Yarmouth must have the hungriest revellers in the country, or else delivery vans can't find it on the GPS, as half the time this place has half the menu OFF the menu. Average Wetherspoons fare, food not bad (when you can get it) as JD's go. A few nice booths if you want a bit of privacy. Breakfast well recommended, especially if you're hungover and just about to get on a coach.

A nice pub with good beer as well. It's just a great shame that most of the staff don't seem to bother serving customers in order. You can often wait 15mins for a drink on a busy night and people around you, who have only just arrived at the bar get served first.
ADrinker123 - 7 Jul 2005 21:14
Its a big pub alongside the bus station on the edge of the toursit trap Regent road. Typically Wetherspoons, cheap beer and chain pub food. Get a window seat if you can and marvel at the way the local pikey drunks stagger around outside spitting and pissing against the wall only inches from you..its not too long ago that you would be rubbing shoulders with the losers in the pub, thankfully they were thrown out. Still it's free entertainment so enjoy!
