And this is the other one I went in on my evening in Manchester. I'm sure it wasn't called Yates and it had been taken over by someone else. Sadly no real ale - so straight out the door. Bought a bottle of Shepherd Neame (or two) from the en-site Sainsbury's and spent 4 hours in my room drinking it!

Beer always served in plastic beakers. Need I say more?

Operated by Select Service Partner, Yate's Manchester Piccadilly can be a quiet place to drink before (or after) travelling. Nice place to arrange to meet someone on the station as its off the main concourse. 'Outside' seating area on the balcony overlooking the concourse but there is not much to see other than trains. Ideal if you are train spotter but not much else as the announcements get in the way of any conversation.

This is a good one to finish the night just before last orders. Be careful on footy days especially England matches as Old Bill don't like people hanging around and drinking.

This place is not your typical Yates', meaning it's not up it's own arse... you can go their pre-train journey, get a few(?) beers bown you and slosh off to your destination with a smile on yer face (from the booze)
