Escape parties from Potters will be relieved to stumble upon this.

I've not been since the new landlord took over, but was a regular for some years, and noted the deterioration.

I'm pleased to read the review since, and trust that more is being made of its fine potential..

What a fantastic, warm and welcoming pub. As a young couple going away with our dogs you always dread if the weather isnt fab as you cant sit out on a evenining having a few drinks and dinner. No problem here our dogs were allowed in with us (bar side). What a difference it made to our holiday !! To be warm and enjoy fantastic homemade yummy food with our dogs. If only more pubs would be this accomodating !! I hope we`ll be back next year !! Thanks kay & mark - the boys send their woofs too !

I along with a family friend went into the pub for food last saturday.....

My friend asked for the "home made cottage pie" (I believe), none was ready..

I am a vegetarian, and was hoping to see on the menu more than just the one vegetarian choice..!!
I did ask if I could have an omelette but was told no...
I opted for 2 egg and chips...(strange that, as I make my omlettes with eggs!!)

On the board outside it states..........new chef, new menu...

Suffice to say, the both of us were very very disappointed with our meals and will not be going back.

I'm sorry for any bad times anybody has had with the pub, but I will be taking over as landlord in about 4 weeks time. It will take me a few weeks to turn the food around and get it back to a family, fun place to eat or drink. I hope you will all give it one more chance.

Went there recently and what a change from two years ago.It was very busy and vibrant then with a cracking lad behind the bar,he was polite and curteous but also with a great sense of wit to make us both feel at home..........Now it has changed albeit for the worse, the same miserable, rude, fingernail biting waitress was there as before. She needed a rocket up her arse and there was another one who didnt have a clue either, neither were 'good ole locals' who cared and knew about things locally. The food was basic and bland it looked as if there wasnt any effort to make the dishes look appetising at all.Even my wifes sandwich was wrong, how on earth can you give someone white bread when you ask for brown????
The man behind the bar was trying but kept disapearring into the kitchen every now and again so two people who walked into the pub were waiting for a bit and after a few minutes they just walked out (great business sense there methinks!) I can safely say that we and there kids WILL NOT go there again and will not recommend it to anyone else in the future.Shame really.

Excellent pub 3 nice ales (2 guests), friendly locals and bar staff!
Didn't try the food but it looked rather nice with big portions!
Also very fit barmaid/waitress :-)

Had used this pub on two other occasions, with my wife and with friends, and put a reasonable amount over the bar in the process. The food at both visits was quite good, and the wine was excellent. The mood of one of the waitresses however did not match the rest of the service, but hey ho ! she might have just had a bad day !
Called in again on first Friday in October to book a table for my wife and self for the following Sunday, met said waitress again, smiled and asked if I might be able to book a table for the coming Sunday, only to be told "Sorry,we don't take bookings for less than 8 people.....WHAT ? And as I could not rustle up the requisite number of bodies, decided to go back to the caravan and cook it myself....I didn't realise that a pub could arbitrarily set minimum numbers. Surely two definite bookings are better than none..Won't bother going there again !

This place is even better than my last visit, it now has a large function room built on. 3 real ales on at the bar including their own White Hart ale, service is excellent and staff very friendly. The food is great and presented well. Also a large screen in bar area and separate family room with it's own bar, pool table and game machines. Overall an excellent place to take the family to eat and have a good pint.

Very disappointed found on internet took family for meal whilst staying at Hopton. Waitress very rude ignored us for a long while then came over with sullen face to take order, told her we would not be eating went and sat outside to finish drink, very large dog sitting on table were food would be served.
will not be going there again.

Used to be my local, quite a busy regulars boozer, but also popular with holdaymakers as well, seating outside, nice place in the summer to sit and watch the sun disappear
