Cross Keys Inn, Manningtonback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
I love this pub everyone is always so friendly the steaks are amazing. Had my birthday party there last year and all I can say is that they did so well I am having my wedding reception there too! The fireworks on Bonfire Night are not to be missed it's just a all round great pub. I would recommend it to anybody.

An update on my previous review. The 'Keys' is now a freehose, with Ringwood ales replacing the Badger, a vast improvement in my opinion. Everything else is 'as you were'. Just one thing, for a variety of reasons the pub is unlikely to be with us a lot longer. Visit it while you can. Love it or hate it, it's an experience not to be missed. I've put my rating up to 10, simply because it is still with us and will be much missed if it goes..........

A local of mine, although I don't use it as often as it deserves. It's been said before I know, agem of a pub, in it's own way as quirky, as unchanged and unchanging as the 'Square and Compass' out on the Purbeck. The 'Keys is all about the landlady. In todays climate of ever-changing licencees, Viv is a one-0ff, a legend in her own time. It is she who gives the pub it's unique atmosphere. Wlakers, bird watchers, bikers, cyclists, steam and classic car enthusiasts all know where the 'Keys is to be found. So what about the beer and the food? The real ale is limited but invariably first-class, H&W First Gold is the staple ale, there are the usual lagers and ciders and an an amazing collection of spirits. The food is simple, in the best sense of the word, tasty and inexpensive. Here, home-cooked means just that. One last thing, it's very much a rural pub, but you are just as likely to be listening to talk of high performance engines, cutting edge technology, this pub supports, in more ways than one, entrants to events such as the Paris-Dakar rally. My rating? 9. I'd like to give it 10 but perfection, they say, is not given to pubgoers.

One of the few quaint counrty pubs that has been left untouched. A nice country pub out of the way but a good stop for walkers looking for food or a refreshing beverage. Bar staff fantastic and helpfull and know thier way around the local beers and 200plus spirits the bar stocks. On weekends the pub gets busy but not crowded the beer garden is large and good for a beer in the sun. Keep on good behaviour and you will be fine, otherwise watch out for the Landlady who rules the pub. Highly recomended

This is the only pub in the district (and there are many) which hasn't changed in all the years of my pubcrawling (since the 1960s). It is a good old-fashioned country Inn - log fire etc.!
The food is excellent, in fact the landladies homemade steak and kidney pie is fantastic - and at 5-75 well!!!
Wish I could drag it about 15 miles closer so I could use it as a local, then I wouldn't have to waste time on this bloody thing!

This little pub is on the back roads half way between Wimborne and Verwood with about four or five other properties in this remote area. Home cooking is the order of the day - try one of 'Vivs curry's' - most delicious! The draught beer is Badger's Best, and 'Hot puds' are 3.00 and very filling. It is a one roomed lounge with about five tables at the front half and four at the back. Horsebrasses aplenty and pictures everywhere even on the ceiling. Flowers on each table. Dog friendly (not big ones) and child friendly too. Bar is well stocked with wines and spirits - seems to have everything. Secluded outside garden. A proper friendly family pub. Present price of Stella is 2.50 as a price guide for value.
