As of Monday 20 September 2010 the Olive Branch is under new management. Not again I hear you say.
Nick and his team will be turning round the fortunes of this ailing pub. He will be doing this by talking to local village people and asking what they want from their pub. He has his own ideas and Nick is a local person who understands the needs of a village such as Yapton.
When refurbishment of the kitchen has taken place, The Olive Branch will be offering traditional pub food and reasonable prices. As the pub is allowed to open from 08:30 (but not for alcohol sales) they will utilise this time to serve tea, coffee and breakfasts. Traditional homemade pub food will be available from 12:00 until 14:30 and evening meals with daily specials from 18:00 until 21:30.
They will be offering Sky TV to show sporting events. Thursday will be the weekly pub quiz night with free food for those taking part. An in-house poker league, darts and pool will be arranged. They will hold twice monthly karaoke events on Saturdays and a monthly open mike event on a Sunday. A Christmas raffle and New Year�s Eve party will also be taking place
The Olive Branch will be serving an extensive range of beers wines and spirits and will gladly accommodate your needs if you prefer a tipple not traditionally sold and generally available in other pubs.

We stopped at The Olive Branch on Sunday when we saw their board advertising a Sunday Roast for �5.95. Our expectations were not high but whar a surprise we got. It was fantastic!
We had a Roast Beef Sunday Roast each and two soft drinks each and the grand total came to......�16.90. The food was fab and all home cooked and fresh

Finally re-opened much to the locals relief. However, it's a mile away from what it used to be. It's clear that the new owners had a limited budget and were wishing for a change from having run pubs in London. Unfortunately, there alterations and attracted clientale do reflect the London after work culture. I can't help feeling that they got lost on the way to their dream of a country pub. The internal decor is a touch cold and not homely and welcoming. Originally one end(the larger end) of the pub was for dining and the bar and fire area for drinking, however this has been switched leaving little space for dining. The garden although cleaned up is nothing special, it offers a large shaded seating area, smoking area and several picnic style tables with parasols, this is adjacent to the road and their carpark which offers ample parking.
We'd love to go back to eating there, but after a long wait for them to start serving food, menus very similar to a fast food chain menu with a sea of yellow/brown friend food offered on a special offer for multiple purchases basis, this didn't encourage us to eat there. I am aware there is a blackboard, but when we visited a month or so ago, there were only a couple of specials, and nobody was eating.
Hopefully things will improve in time. It's sink or swim out there now, and unless they take a good look at the competition and what their locals (bread and butter) want i think they're future may be bleak.

Good beer, good food, friendly landlord (who is also the head chef) and staff. More a restaurant than a pub, but still a nice atmosphere for a pint.

Visited 31 Aug with my wife for lunch (roast). Very good food that's cooked properly from fresh but do remember....this takes a bit longer to serve ! It's many years since my last visit and the differences are obvious in that a great great deal of money has been spent on what was not much more than a village beer bar. Visitors, good parking and worth a visit but to be fair, all Yapton pubs tend to be a bit better than average. We will visit again. 8/10

This is the pub where stars are born there is a great little singer at this time competing to become an x- factor star. If you wanr to hear her you will have to visit on a Monday evening.
Thers is a graet Karaoke session here also on a monday. And the food is great.
