I love it. One of only three Sam Smith pubs I've been to but I always pop in for a beautiful pint of Stout when I'm shopping on Oxford Street. In the day you can get a seat upstairs and get a good view down to shaftsbury avenue and the customers are decent too. Same efficient, polite chubbyish bloke always seems to be working there. Haven't been for a while but I'm hoping he still is. Not to be rude but the fact that he's English adds that extra traditional touch to a traditional boozer. The foreign girls they employ are perfectly capable as well. Sam S. pub so damn good prices

Haven't been in here in years!! Wasn't this known as the 'Best Little Horse House in London'??!!! Last time I walked in the landlord was just bodily throwing a rather irate customer out!!! Oh happy days!!

Not the inviting place it formerly was. It seems the majority of the staff have left or are leaving. Thankfully there are a multitude of other Sam Smiths pubs around the area, but its a shame to see a fine pub with a happy team just disintegrate.
Disappointing really; Not one of Samuel Smith's better Central London pubs - lacks the old school charm of somewhere like the Horse & Groom or indeed the traditional, friendly localish feel akin to the Dover Castle. Also, no cask ale - whats all that about? Packed to the rafters on a saturday evening but still managed to get served reasonably quickly, so the staff deserve a pat on the back. Still, hardly one to go out of your way for.

Been to this pub in the past and had pleasant pint reasonably priced and pleasant service. Visited again last week and apparently new landlord - dont know who needed the revamp most - the pub or the staff. I know the days of landlord wearing suit and tie in evenings are gone but when you get a very scruffy landlord in dirty t shirt and jeans bang two crates of beer on counter at 10 pm and start stacking shelves when customers are waiting - well to me that is not good customer service. Beer may be cheaper than surrounding pubs but would rather pay twice as much for better service - not a pub I will visit again.

Unfailingly pleasant. We hadn't been here for months, but were made very welcome by all the staff. Busy, but not packed out, so finding a seat was possible. However, it got much busier when the two adjacent theatres emptied. A pint of beer without artificial ingredients always tastes good, but at 2 a pint, it tasted even better.

Why do all non-London Sam Smith pubs serve real ale but only a minority of their London pubs have it ? Also why the policy of no pork scratchings ? I can only surmise the people who own this brewery are oddballs.
Nice pub. One of the few straight pubs in the area. Good selection of unusual beers - so makes a nice change from the usual.
A hidden gem in an unlikely location. There are two large theatres within 50 yards, so actors, TV presenters and other famous faces are frequently seen calling in here, before or after a show.
Often very busy on Thursday and particularly Friday evenings but not too packed on other weekdays. There are also several English Schools within the area, so British visitors are frequently outnumbered.
Sam Smiths currently start at around 2 per pint. But if you want a brand name at a premium price, here is definitely not for you.

Yet another decent Sam Smiths pub that doesnt have any real ale on. Its a shame something worth drinking would make this a pretty good pub. But it wont be getting my custom unless they do get a decent beer on.
Good boozer - nice fire and fireplace downstairs and worth going upstairs. Food portions ok, glad we had a side portion of chips. Not too packed before going to see a show.
No handpumps, no sale.
Decent Sam Smith pub, and surprisingly quiet for a Soho boozer. Friendly staff and a decent pint of Pure Brew. Typical Smith's refurb interior of high-quality etched glass and mahogany.
Cheap beer, nice crowd... great for a couple of skinflint pints but you wouldn't want to have a night out here. It's more of a stop-off place.
From all perspectives a fine pub. It gets busy like anywhere in London, but not mobbed like other places. The staff are friendly and efficient but won't stand for any drunken stupidity. Clientele therefore tend to be people out for a pleasant social gathering, rather than an evening of intoxicated lunacy, so it won't suit all tastes. The Sam Smith's Cider and Pure Brewed Lager, which is served in a unique tall glass are both worth sampling.

great pub, nice relaxed atmosphere amongst hustle and bustle of soho. it's very sad that some people are fickle enough to believe that because something is not too expensive it's rubbish - that couldn't be less true with the white horse. fantastic beer, fantastic prices

Ignore the comments about the beer being "cack".It's just that the submitter doesn't like Sam Smiths ales.Try any of the bitters, wheat beer or stout.Whats more,at this present moment in time, you'll still get 2 for a fiver!I always make a point of using the "horse" whenever I'm in London. The regulars are a great crowd and the big lad behind the bar is good for a laugh and always has the crack with us.
A very mixed place with a charm and a warm friendly atmosphere. As usual, the beer is cack but at least its cold, it counts for something.
Decent place - from memory the 'man in a box' lager is headache juice so be warned. Nice atmosphere, would recommend

Ive been in this place loads, its a bit of a centre of town local for me. The service is always good, you can almost always get a seat and its cheap. Some of the weirdest experiences of my life have taken place in this pub. Usually has lots of strange patrons and tourists. The food is typical pub stuff, but the portions are insane. The Tuna Melt in particular is a monster. I would recommend this place to anyone. Pity about Sam Smiths no music policy though.
Generally not a fan of Sam Smiths pubs; I don't think their beer tastes of anything in particular but it is cheap so I guess you get what you pay for. The night I was in it was full of drunk blokes with a few of them kicking off. Can't imagine going back anytime soon.
Busy on Saturday (obviously), cheapest beer in London, lots of luvvy types drop in. Good central position...Reccomened!!
Used to love this pub. Sam Smiths I'm afraid is like drinking lighter fluid (and I'd know). Awful stuff. The draught lager and bitter leave alot to be desired. Ambiance is nice and staff although all foreign are helpful and know their job.Until + if the beer changes ... wont be back.
Sam Smiths. Friendly service, decent beer at good prices. Nothing sensational but well worth a stop if you're in the area.
This is a lovely pub, during the day you can walk in and get a very filling portion of curly fries, a quiet piny, very friendly bar staff. At night we packed it out and still it was a pleasant pub, clean toilets and no hassle at kick out time!
Soho? Snigger! Quiet boy! Sorry sir, it's a nice pub though? Close to the clubs you go to, isn't it sir. Harrumph! Take that as a yes then, as my Dad saw you on Saturday night.
Fantastic place. beer is great and very well priced for the west-end. shame no music (but thats sam smiths for you) great traditional menu! Also a place to spot some stars.....
Pleasantly surprised that on a Thursday night there were spare tables upstairs. Not sure about the 'real ale' - the Old Brewery was served from a keg not a hand pump. And only one toilet (F)!
Lovley upstairs bar, good mix of people, cheap, different beers to your normal pub, friendly and attractive bar staff, waht more do you want?

Bog standard but fairly agreeable pub from the Sam Smith's stable. Cheap for a Soho pub too.
