Another cracking pub in Staines. My 3rd and final pub of my short hop on a Tuesday night.
3 strangers walked in and were given a lovely warm welcome from the bar maid like we were regulars .
5 pumps but only 3 real ales on. These were Otter, Courage and Surrey Hills Brewery's Shere Drop. I had 3 pints of the Shere Drop and all were excellent pints that were well poured
We wasted a good hour here, this truly is a great local pub that you would really not know exists being hidden towards the end of Wheatsheaf Lane at the junction of Penton Road.

This pub really makes an effort and has just been LocAle accredited by the North Surrey CAMRA branch because of its consistently good London Pride from Chiswick.

Average pub in the back streets of Staines. Mainly frequented by locals. They had 4 real ales - Courage Best, Theakston Old Peculier, Sharps Doom Bar and Fullers London Pride. No real ciders.

Walked 16 miles from Isleworth to this lively community pub just 150 yds from the Thames (a brown sign points you along the way from the river) in the hope of tasty food and beer - not disappointed. A friendly and loud welcome from tha bar staff, even when packed on a Bank Holiday Monday, and a cracking pint of Cirrus from Mr Whitehead's Cider Company. They also had the always good Doombar and the usual Pride. The cider was marvellous. Cool and cloudy. The BBQ was a one off but the pork, stuffing and apple bap was really worth the walk. It caters for all tastes - there are houses of all types around this pub. Council houses, riverside flats and terraces add to the mix so expect a half decent small wine list, the usual "off-license" larrga and decent drinker's beers. Good.

Very friendly and cosy pub Food excellent

A good pub with good Beer, But agree with eric the whole pleace is looking shabby. Barmaids are pretty poor at serving, but great at txting! The food is over priced for such small portions. Think someone is getting greedy!!

I like this pub - a decent local with couple of good real ale choices (liking the Doonbar) - great location to break up walk down the river. There is a big BUT! The garden could be great for kids/families but appears to have left to be a cats toilet. They need to tidy up what could be a great garden for spending more time - would take very little time or money.

Tried this place the other night and was pleasently suprised.

nice tradition style place, bit rough and ready, i liked it!
|
Don't bother. This place is a hole.
|
Nice friendly local with three good real ales. Disgustingly smoky atmosphere when busy though. Will go back after July 1st!

An old-school locals pub down by the river. Initially encouraging, three mainstream handpulls on the go, with the Pride and TEA both being in very good form. Inside is nice and light.
Sadly didn't enjoy the atmosphere; both the music and the rugby on the telly were pumped up against each other making general conversation difficult to follow at times. My pet hate, but there you go.
Worth a beer, but not a stayer unless they adopt a 'one brand of entertainment at any one time' policy.

All good and does just what it says on the label. Agreat local and locals pub that welcomes all. Great Beer and Warm barstaff, who could want more?(Bit 70's in decor though....ho hum..)

I have just re-discovered the Wheatsheaf and Pigeon. My membership had lapsed over the last few years but having heard that it had been taken over also that the restaurant was being run by a professional chef I decided to give it a go. The menu is interesting (not the usuaal pub grub) and appetising. I have dined there a few times both at the bar and in the restaurant and cannot fault it. The food os great, the bar staff friendly and welcoming and the quiz night a hoot, it gets 10/10 from me.

The Wee and Pee is a very lively and buzzing local pub. The female bar staff are extremely friendly (and good looking). Since the pub has been taken over in May 2005, the food has improved greatly probably due to the fact that the new owner is a professional chef. They have now created a restaurant, which is extremely cosy and the menu choice and quality of food gets a huge 10 out of 10. I would recomend you pay a visit to the Wee and Pee, whether it is just for a quick pint and some bar food, or a romantic / group night out in the restaurant.

The Wee n Pee is now under new management and from what I've seen so far the local family that have taken it on are in the process of restoring it to its former glory after a few years of neglect. The pool table has gone and the restaurant is to be re established whilst maintaining the local pub atmosphere. I'm looking forward to better things!

Food is not as good since it changed hands a few years back, but it's still a nice place for a few cheeky ones on the way home from work. Always full outside by 6pm on a Friday.

Exceptionally friendly local pub. Welcoming atmosphere. Tony is a great guvnor. Good choice of beers including London Pride, 6X, Courage Best and Caledonian Deuchars IPA. Quiz night every Tuesday at 9pm.

Good food & beer, a very country feel to this boozer as its close to the river. A few old locals with there own tankers but a nice chilled out place to drink, especially in the summer.
