Very badly run.

OK pub, though was much better before the refurb.
Good layout and good value though the food was absolutely abysmal/horrifying/terrible/delete as appropriate.

This used to be a great pub, but now they have just Hancocks HB alongside loads of lagers. It's a decent pint that almost takes the taste away from the 'chef's' overcooked steaks or burned fish - not forgetting raw chips.

Unfortunatley most pubs in Cathays have turned into wannbe trendy student bars. The Mackintosh is the only one in the heart of Cathays to have resisted this. Yes, it has been taken over by the Sizzler chain, yes it no longer serves London Pride (just the disappointing HB), and yes a recent refurbishment has removed some of the atmosphere - however it still remains a decent local and a pleasant enough place to come for a few pints. The large back room has a pool table and a big screen for watching the sport.

Great pub quiz on a Wednesday. Lost some of its atmosphere when they became part of The Sizzler chain. Overall a pretty nice place, and the bar staff have always been delightful.

This is a large traditional pub, popular with students and locals alike. Split into two main areas small comfy bar area to the front and large room to the back with pool tables and big screen TV. Perfect venue on match days always has a good atmos
