Lovely old pub. Popped in while I was visiting the area. Good selection of beers, good food, and friendly staff.

Very popular and geared up towards food but a good selection of well-kept Real Ales when I last visited and a delightful place to sit outside when the weather's good. Service was good and friendly for a 'foodie pub'.

Lots of good ales, changed often. The food is good, not burgers an stuff a bit more up market than that (11 quid a main)
Nice place to stay and friendly staff

The 8 December report on the food is backed up by people I've talked with. HOWEVER - the new chef was quickly found out and sacked, and reports of his replacement are glowing.
On my recent visits I have noticed a slight diminution in the "body" of the beers - nothing wrong with colour or flavour, but lacking body slightly. This seems to have coincided with not having seen Richard, the boss, around.

This place sounds fantastic! I have been past it on numerous occasions but unfortunately not popped in. I am from Oxford so only visit rarely!

good ale, but the food was terrible, will not be eating there again.

What a great place to have as a local. Excellent food and atmosphere, with ales from 2.00 (Sawley Tempted and Moorhouse) to 2.10 (Timothy Taylor's Landlord).
The staff are outstandingly good, there is a non-smoking room and the place is generally full of locals and visitors. Usually quiet on a Monday, it's heaving by Friday and Saturday!! Go there and enjoy!! (PS They have newspapers too).

Really warm and welcoming country pub. Cracking food, always busy, reasonable prices and a huge wine list.
