As luck would have it, we visited the Talbot during one of its beer festivals yesterday. The pub itself is on a prominent corner at the bottom of a steep hill and just across the road from the River Teme. The main bar area looked very traditional and had a few locals in. All 3 of the main Teme Valley ales were on - This, That & T'Other. But, we ventured across the road to the beer tent. A fourth Teme Valley beer was on - Shepherd's Delight. Other unusual ales on were Artisan Ales BB/01 & BB/02, Beckstones Beer O'clock, Clun Green Man IPA, Corvedale Ale of Odin, Drfitwood Spars Blue Hills & Stocks Special, Foxfield Nick Of Time, Hobson's Black IPA, Lakehouse Amber Session, Ludlow Weissbier, Pershore Helles Lager & Salisbury & Jones Ernest. There were also a couple of ciders, which I had to sample - Barbourne Major Jane and the much more local Ankerdine Cider Shed Village Idiot. Both were quite dry. The Talbot is certainly an excellent place. It's a real pity I couldn't stay longer. My favourite pub of the weekend.

17th century building with many alterations and additions. The conservatory isn't up to much but the traditional lounge bar and tap room are more in keeping with this country inn. The Teme Valley Brewery is located on site and their This, That and T'other were on sale yesterday as well as their seasonal Jack in the Green which was good. Local draught ciders available too. The beer garden overlooks fields of cows and pigs adding to the general ambience. Home to one of the UK's oldest Farmers' Markets every 2nd Sunday of the month.

Used as a base to complete a walk. Got back and offered the choice of This, That or T'Other. Made use of the descriptions on the wall to work out that That would be the preferred!
Nice pint, food looked lovely. Great experience.

Hard to fault in terms of what a country pub can aspire to. Easy-going, comforting, inclusive and relaxed. Very much an 'inn' that brews its own excellent ales, offers high quality, locally sourced, fairly priced food and importantly provides a hub for the community and its visitors. A fine building and a very well run business. Hats off to them as I don't think they do mediocre.

What looks like fairly major building work appeared to be in progress on the hotel section when we were there recently, but that didn't prevent this place from standing out as the best in a locality remarkably well provided with good pubs. I think I'd need to be around for a bit longer than I was to feel at home in the taproom, which is the kind of old fashioned locals' public bar you don't often come across these days. The other bar, though catering for the pub's flourishing food trade, nevertheless retains absolutely the character of a traditional pub. They make a point here of emphasising the local origins of everything they serve (bar the fish). The food, though I agree it's quite pricy in the restaurant, is very reasonable in the bar, and they offer some original ideas, always, in our experience, of excellent quality. The beer is from their own Teme Valley Brewery situated behind the pub, and is also first-rate, as well as being cheap (2.35 a pint for 'This' bitter). The service was friendly and helpful - it was nice to be recognised and welcomed on only one's second visit. Altogether, it's hard to find fault; it's a place I'd make a sizeable detour to visit again.

has to be the best pub for miles, real style in an unhassled way. the only pub i have been told off for not taking the dog in !. home cooked food, home brewed beer, on the river, sells papers wonderful walks in all directions, real massive log fires etc etc miss it, you are missing a real gem

Surprised the last review was a year ago. Thankfully nothing has changed. A country pub / restaurant / hotel . Great food and great beer and country pursuits on the doorstep. Can be a bit "cliquey" but not unfriendly. Not cheap but you pay for what you get and I have never been disappointed .Plenty of outdoor space with lovely views. Hint.. take a walk over the pedestrian river bridge and you will find one of the best traditional butchers around. No factory made stuff here and dont forget the farmers market. After all that sit down and enjoy a pint of This, That or Tother.

Rambling pub and hotel with large outdoor area on the banks of the Teme. The restaurant is expensive for a pub, the beer is cheap, being brewed at the Teme Valley Brewery on site. Somehow the bar stayed open during the floods of July 07, when some pubs took months to re-open. Large restaurant plus locals' bar. There is a farmers' market on the second Sunday of the month and regular mini-beer festivals - a weekend of mild last time I was there - hurrah!

This is one one of the best pub/restuarants in the Hfd/Worcs area. Fantastic!!

top top pub in the middle of nowhere - but worth the trip. great staff beer and locals. grow and rear their own food. In London the dirty chains would be clambering over each other far a place like this and then turn it into a gimmick. They just don't understand, places like this don't do things because its trendy, they do them because they want to.

Fantastic!

Great beer, Great food - say no more squire.

I agree with the very positive comments already made. The beer, brewed just behind the pub, is indeed good ('That' is perhaps better than 'This') and the food looks appetising in an informal hearty style. It may be worth mentioning the real fire in winter and the two curious non-matching but paired seats facing the bar.

Can't say much more than the previous reviewers really. Would just like to reiterate their praise. This is a charming place, well run, comfortable and welcoming. Excellent real ale and very good food indeed. It's a relief to be able to choose from a menu without wondering where the meat came from. Superb.

If you are into fishing and love a drink, this could be the perfect place to stay, eat and fish. The pub owns a stretch of the local river, which is reknowned for its barbel. The pub itself has good clean rooms above the room bar area. The food is just perfect and the atmosphere is always warming. The staff are worthy of a pat on the back also.

Gorgeous beer, gorgeous pub, gorgeous food. All local. A must if you're in the area

A simply outstanding pub by the side of the Rive Teme sheltering at the foot of the Suckley Hills; a place I never tire of returning to. Cozy lounge bar with wood fire and larger comfortable dining area plus a games room round the back. The food is almost entirely locally produced and very good. The real ale is excellent and brewed on site at the Teme Valley brewery with seasonal specials alongside regular favourites. The pub (which also has guest rooms) is a good stopping place for lunch on one of the main routes from Worcester into the Marches or as a base from which to explore the Malvern Hills and fine West Worcestershire countryside. Highly recommended.

Great food and damn fine ale (This, That and T'Other).

Excellent food using local ingredients, cooked by the enthusiastic chef/owners.
Unfortunately, it's a bit out of the way, but The Talbot also has accommodation and does indeed do fantastic breakfasts.
