Free Trade Inn, Pelsallback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Went to visit "my Pub" on sat and it does look very sory for itself, all boarded up. I grew up in that pub and in it's day it was a great pub. Hog roast's on bonfire night, fancy dress parties for new years eve Quiz night on a tuesday. Realy upsetting to see what it's now become. If I could I'd buy the place and get it back to it's former glory it wasn't rough had a very friendly atmosphere and the best bunch of locals around. I miss my pub.....

About the only pub in Pelsall I will never revisit: It's that rough.

we are locals at the free trade inn, we enjoy the company of many other locals and there is a great atmosphere in there. Many people moan about how its gone downhill over the years but thats their own opinion. theres no need to slate it!

What happened to this pub, used to be a great pub in its day, but how it has fallen, it's in a horrible state now.

The Trade was originally built to service the long demolished Pelsall Iron Works opposite, stands 100yds from the Pelsall Bridge on the Wyrley and Essington canal. This pub is a real tragedy. Ten years ago, it was a solid working class pub with an 'edge of the Black Country' style, a small bar and small lounge doing meals. On most weekend nights it was a busy and friendly pub. The downhill slide is unbelievable.. On our visit (Saturday evening: 9-10pm)I asked if they had any beer that wasn't smoothpour. The landlord replied, "No mate, its a waste of time, Everything is f**king ronk!, the pipes are filthy and everything". I settled for a Guinness, on the grounds that this was virtually impossible to screw up--Wrong!! It was the most vinegary Guiness I've ever had (And I've had a few) On top of this, the once well kept lounge was now shabby, with peeling wallpaper and mismatched lamps, plus probably the worst karaoke in the world all made for a pretty dire experience. The handfull of patrons in the pub seemed happy enough, but it depends what you want from a pub.
