I moved to the area five years ago and have made this pub my local. This is a good honest pub with one minor failing (depending upon your sex). The good things are the beer very well kept, the staff, who are friendly and efficient and the dcor which has been lightened up considerably now smoking has moved outdoors and not everything goes nicotine brown. You can talk to your mates in this pub 'cos although they do have a pretty good music selection playing in the background it is never intrusive. The one thing that needs attention after five years at least is the ladies toilets, they are pretty dire for the 21st century according to my wife and other females who have visited. Apparently a door that locked would be nice. So I note this point for the women but as a man I can't fault the place. Also note that apart from Thursday curry nights the Blacks doesn't do food.

A truly great pub with excellent real ales, Bombardier is a constant with a good range of guest ales. Always a well kept pint of anything and a comprehensive top shelf. The regulars are always polite and friendly, and the staff are impeccable,(as long as you can have a laugh and joke). I moved here 2 years ago and have made this my local, despite the other pubs in the area. Always a good choice of music and not too loud, 2 fruit machines and an ample smoking area. Curry night every other thursday freshly prepared by Colin the landlord, and I've not heard a bad report yet. Well worth a visit.

Great little pub.

Since the smoking ban a covered, heated beer garden has been created for addicts, they will even have Sky Sports in there when the football season starts!

Best pint in the area with three real ales, although perhaps only as Bombadier seems to be in permanent residence. An honest local BUT sometimes TOO smoky
