please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Now reopened as The Priory.

Only time will tell if the formula is right as when I walked past on Saturday at around 5pm the place was spectacularly empty. I wonder if a psuedo gastropub is what Orpington needs?

It would be hindered by the fact that the premises that was Ram Ba Ba/Mr Jacks has now reopened as a nice looking Mexican restaurant, but only time will tell if this is a winning formula

Definitely re-opening on Friday, 2nd November as the Priory Tavern & Refectory Restaurant. Offering a wide selection of continental lagers, including Amstel, Staropramen, San Miguel and Kronenbourg Blanc, plus 4 real ales (Ruddles Best, Harvey's Sussex Bitter, TT Landlords, Abbot Ale), 2 cask ciders (Thatcher's Cheddar Valley & Weston's Old Rosie), 2 keg bitters (Whitbread Poachers & GK IPA Draughtflow) plus Stowford Press keg cider. Classical English dining with a touch of sophistication.

The application for a new premises license is currently with Bromley Council, with a hearing in early September. It will, subject to the grant of the license, be opening as the Priory Tavern & Refectory Restaurant in late September. How do I know? I'm the new landlord.... check out the reviews on my other pub, the Two Brewers in Dartford.....

If this happens it will be a welcome adition to the High street, which has become a bit dead of late.

What we need is something different, not another Wetherspoons and not another White Hart. A decent boozer with decent beer. Lets hope this comes off.

Will hopefully be re-opening at the end of the summer with a new name and a new range including 4 cask ales and a cask cider. Moving spectacularly up-market with a complete food offering too.

It is still closed and all boarded up and I can't say I miss the place.

You've got to wonder about this pub, as it has been shut for a while now and shows no signs of life.

Yes it was a bit grim for a long time (they even had a machine selling porn DVD's in the gents!) but when the a new couple took it over it looked like they could have made a go of it.

Still if it has closed for good (and if anyone knows what's going on I would like to know.) It is the loss of another pub on the High Street. This is a shame as to a certain extent all there is at the top of Orpington High Street are pubs and retaurants and it has the makings of a vibrant place, but they all seem to be closing down.

Shame really

I visited this pub for the first (and probably only!) time yesterday. It was one of the most depressing pubs I've ever been in (in almost 40 years drinking). Being faced as you walk in with a huge notice declaring that "Drinks are served at the management's discretion, no apologies, decision is final" is hardly creating a welcoming atmosphere. The decor badly needs freshening up. The pub has recently been taken over by a new husband/wife team and I gather that there has been a history of trouble at the pub previously, so they have their work cut out to turn this pub round.

It needs attention.

New owners seem to have the right idea, making it a nice atmosphere for nice people like myself and friends.

Since being taken over a new landlord, the Blacksmiths has become the best pub in the high street. Brilliant stuff, great atmospere, never any trouble, nice to find a pub that you can relax in without looking over your shoulder.
