A good, solid local; it's quite out of the way, but worth hunting out. As the other reviewers say, it's Hop Back beers, which not everyone is a fan of. The place is pleasant and quite cheap (especially when compared to the Salisbury prices), but it's not outstanding. The "open all day" is a decided advantage. 6/10

Open all day; with 5 or 6 ales, a friendly welcome, and cheaper prices than the city. Worth the walk or bus ride to get here. Unfortunately there are no 'cosy corners' because the furniture seems to be chosen to suit diners (and in large groups). Food wasn't tried - but a good looking, varied menu.

A Hopback owned pub - so only their beers available. We drank the Trick or Treat - a seasonal - darker than most Hopback beers but very tasty and served very well here.
The lunch menu was inviting. Both our meals were well cooked and generous in quantity.
Clearly a locals' pub but we were made very welcome on our midweek, lunchtime visit. If we lived in the area, we would probably make many repeat visits.

Unlike wolvesfan (posting 5 sept 2010) I have no problem with Hop Back beers but agree a guest ale would be a good addition. As it was the beers were in excellent condition. I do agree with wolvesfan the new tenants, Becki and Tim, are enthusiastic and have already made improvements to what had become rather dreary. We had a good Sunday lunch. It was the first day they had begun serving food and while there were a couple of minor teething problems they did not spoil a pleasant experience. I have no doubt that we will be back on a not infrequent basis.

I'm not a great lover of Hop Back or its beers. However, John Gilbert was possibly quite astute when he bought this place. It is the only pub in the village and is open all day. The pub just recently acquired new tenants and it seems like they are full of enthusiasm, food starts shortly. This really could be a very good pub with the right management team. Only the 'Hop Back' beers let it down!!! Any chance of a guest ale??

This is a village-type pub on the edge of a big town (Salisbury). It seems to be a mixture of traditional village pub (the working kind, not the chocolate-box musuem prefered by so many second-homers) and town pub, but for some reason it seems to work. Good cheap, no-nonsense food, 4 ales on (I tried Hopback Crop Circle and GFB, both excellent) and they clean the pumps properly (I saw them do it).
Well worth a visit.

A modern pub tucked in the back streets of Laverstock.Did a decent pint of Crop Circle. Was certainly open at 2.30 on Saturday.

Open all day, so the signs in the window say. Lights on, 3pm Saturday afternoon, all doors resolutely shut. What a waste of time. Surely a note in the window to say you are not open would be possible?

My partner's daughter has recently moved out to Laverstock, providing me with an excuse to wander the 500yds or so down to this excellent little pub on a fairly regular basis. This may possibly be the best of Hopback's pubs in terms of the quality of it's beer - the Crop Circle is unfailingly excellent, always leaving a residual trace down the inside of the glass to the last drop. I agree with another poster on this site about the interior decor and furniture arrangements - it doesn't seem quite to know what overall effect is being aimed for. Don't let this put you off, though. The staff and regulars are friendly enough, and although I've not eaten there yet, others tell me that the food is pretty good.

A pleasant pub much improved after the recent purchase by Hop Back. It sells Hop Back Beer (need I say more??)and a guest ale (The Downton Brewery when I was there). Beer garden outside in which to enjoy your pint in good weather.

A curious pub.
It's had a lot of modern extension work done, but in a way that doesn't really do much either to or for the interior of the building.
The selection of beers is good - it's a Hopback pub so you can get Summer lightning.
It's in a good location for what is effectively a village pub.
