please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
they have gone for the 'west end' vibe as oposed to the 'north west london' vibe (where it is) - they almost pull it off. amlost.
beer is average, food the same. price is anything but average. being in zone 4 is evidently no barrier to them charging zone 1 or 2 prices.
not worth the money but the place is clean, toilets are fine and people are (generally) nice.
has a tendancy to be quite empty during the week though.
if you wanna spend a 1er on a night out, there are better places to go!

Since my last visit a few years ago this place has got louder and brighter, even on a Tuesday night. The mind bending hard house was reverberating around the bar and piercing my brain like a hot needle. The two other punters in this very large bar seemed as equally impressed as I was.
There seemed to be two pumps of every generic lager you can think of, but unsurprisingly I spotted no real ale. The barman was miserable, but so would I be if I had to stand in an empty pub whilst being beaten to death with an electric keyboard. The one good thing from my visit was the joyous few minutes I had curling one out in the five star gents toilets.
If passing whilst the football was on Id pop in to make use of their ample selection of plasma screens, but Id imagine my old bones not being very impressed with this place at the weekend when the tiddlypeeps flock to chuck their shapes.

one of the better places in Hendon, food is good and so it should be at the price...more west end than north london. Decent crowd and bouncers that turned away a few undesirables...so that can't be bad. Good restaurants nearby as well, so handy for a drink afterwards...

Went there on a friday afternoon, staff friendly enough, toilets immaculate, food looks good but didnt try any. Drink prices are a touch expensive. Good average boozer.

I was pleasantly surprised after reading some of the reviews I was expecting the worst but was truly impressed.I was recommended the Gallery by several friends, as a cool venue for food, drink and a nice crowd. It has true potential no expense spared, on the lights, sound & decoration. I talked to the marketing/day manageress Mariam (very pleasant & friendly girl.) and learned that the Gallery is now under new management with strict new dress code in place for entry. They have introduced theme nights for future events, special deals for those who attend the resturant for a meal free access to the club with entry to the VIP room and a glass of champagne. Music was Rn'b Bashment, funky house, hip hop & dance hall. The place was humming with atmosphere. It is a match for any decent club in the west end, in my view. The prices are slightly on the high side for drinks but very reasonable for food. The staff were efficient and friendly. I think that security have their work cut out for them but were pleasant in their approach to dealing with customers both inside and out side the club. The volume of people trying to gain entry exceed the capacity of the venue at times.Best to go early so as to avoid disappointment. Finally.. I can say it surpassed my expectations on all counts, with exception to drinks pricing. It is truly worth considering for a memorable night out..it's currently on my list of favourites.

Felt a bit naff going in midweek with the multicoloured lights illuminating the Hendon Way outside.. there were about 10 people in there, we sat at the bar & were served with drinks & a bowl of hot chips / dip really quickly. I've been in here once on a weekend before & thought it was packed full of pretentious wide-boys so wasn't that impressed, but it's done out nicely & tries really hard so I'll probably be back but prefer the week nights I think.

Was here on a girls night out recently and it was so much fun! Crowd has changed alot recently. More of a mixture now in the bar. We were well looked after for the entire evening. Food in the restaurant was fab! Definitely go again soon.

Still an appalling venue. Odd crowd. Bad music. Overpriced drinks. Miserable eastern european bar staff. Bouncers wth serious attitude problems. Tacky Gawdy decor.
Avoid like the plague.

We visited the restaurant on Saturday night, well the bar, restaurant and then back to the bar for a bit of a bogie with the girls from work, some had been here before. I thought the place was beautiful. Considering that the restaurant was full the service was good, we didn’t wait too long for anything. Will defiantly be taking my hubbie for a meal and a drink in the new year.

Absolutley horrified at the way people are treated at this place. Me and 2 well dressed females were told we were not allowed in because the bar and club had reached maximum capacity. Now that is understandable but the door man, the fairly shorter black guy told us to wait a little while and he would let us in when he was ready. Meanwhile roughly 30 people had left the bar and he let about 10 other people in as we stood quietly in the rain getting wet, 20minutes later he said we are not coming in. Some irish guy who has got to be the manager or owner stood outside with full on attitude. In my opinion, managers, owners and bouncers who get alittle bit of authority all of a sudden think theyr supermen. I and many people i know from the north london area will definatley not return to this place. What a let down.

Have been here on a few occasions since it's opening and I have to say, this place has great potential but the management need to get it's clientele right before it can really take off. This bar used to be known as The Poichin Stil and was usually full of chavs and "dodgy" people, I think they have got rid of most of this element now and are trying to concentrate on the more discerning customer by offering the more up market, premium drink brands and the obvious refurbishment which looks like something you would normally see in the West End or city rather than a North London suburb, however the people that drink there are such a mish mash it all gets a bit confusing as to whose "territory" it is. I think this problem could probably be sorted out with a more focused door policy, although I understand that with a new bar still finding it's feet, the best bet would just be to let anyone in to get some cash in the tills and with time, the regulars will make it more obvious what kind of bar this is. The downstairs bar is usually full of a younger (18-25) Asian/Jewish crowd very "daddy's money" though and if your anything like me, these air kissing posers really start to grate after a while. Upstairs is a very different story, the club is a total mix of eastern Europeans, chavs and normal Fri/Sat night drinkers, although I was surprised that there does seem to be a very much older crowd up here, especially in the VIP area (I'm taking late 40's - 50's!)The music can be quite good with the usual mix of chart anthems and R&B and, seeing as there is a severe lack of decent places to go in the Mill Hill/Edgware/Colindale area, The Gallery could be up there if you fancy a change from The Claddagh (which has a better atmosphere but gets WAY too packed!!)I just hope that the venue can find it's true identity and live up to it's potential

does anyone know if they have the same DJ's as before or are they all new?

all the irish crowd go the claddagh,to much of a mix in here and it causes tension, african, eastern europeon, and english customers are a recipe for disaster, my mate asked for a dash of lemonade in his pint (a lager top) and was charged an extra 70p, loads of barstaff but they are useless and it takes ages to get served, decor is fantastic though with no exspense spared, though i will be taking my custom to the claddagh.

not as good as it was before. gone all pretentious. theres a picture of che gavara on the wall!
full of posers who buy one drink all nigth and stand there looking moody.
all the atmosphere of an art gallery.
|
is it a massive difference from what is was like before?
is it the kind of place you can go to and still have a good laugh or is it a bit posh now?
does it still have its irishness? whats kind of people are they trying to attract?
|
What type of music do they play?

any news when its gonna reopen?

met the guys who are redoing the Poitin over a beer recently, it will be renamed the Gallery and opening in July / August. It will be a restaurant, nightclub and bar apparently fitted out to a very high standard. West End comes to North London - sounds like they are spending a fortune on it.
I'll definately be checking this out again now!!
