The Pub is now called "The Tap Rooms", has a good selection of beers and the burgers are good.

Atmosphere now much nicer now the Geordie bloke has gone. Worth a visit. Beer is decent too.

New landlady now. She's brilliant. Really friendly and just wants to do the best for customers. Very good atmosphere and great food. The staff are all fantastic too and pretty. Kudos to the new owners, really turned it around and saved a great pub from disappearing. Go there you'll love it

This pub was taken over by a Geordie in nov 2007,with his partner (the poor girl)
The landlord Known as Geordie to his regulars is abit of a perv, over his regular customers!
Can't say I would rate the pub much, as its pretty dull and boring, the landlord is grumpy, his partner is totally unaware of his sexual appetite. The only exciting thing about that pub is the gossip.
As it happens the landlord is moving to spain- yipee Hopefully get someone in there who knows how to treat people with respect, once he's gone.

Gone down hill in the last year, expensive drinks, no atmosphere and not alot to offer really, landlord looks like he should be in the british legion not a town centre pub !!!

I've not tried the food, so can't comment on that. Barmaids are friendly and efficient.
However, the first time I was in this pub a guy sitting at the bar decided to have a chunder. All the barmaid did was pass him a cloth to wipe his face and then poured him another neat whisky!! Maybe not the most caring thing she could have done!

Beer can be dodgy, but all in all, a nice atmosphere

Good value drink offers, regular clientele amusingly eccentric. Both barmaids attractive last time I was there. Not at all bad.

Very nice traditional pub. Its not a student venue and you get a lot of old locals. They have a jukebox and Sky Sports. The best thing is the food, the best home cooked pub food in the city. The barmaids are nice girls always seem to be from South Africa or some eastern european country, but always stunning. Top place.

Makes a pleasant change from all the studenty places that are so common in Southampton. Staff are v. friendly and serve one of the best pints of Guinness on the South Coast (as far as I'm concerned)
