After the Bell Inn at Haughton, this was my 5th Staffordshire pub of the day on Wednesday and probably the best. It's a rural place with a decent selection of ales and ciders - Holdens Black Country Bitter, Hobsons Town Crier, Ludlow Gold, Westons Wyld Wood, Shepton Mallet Cider Mill Somerset Fruit Forager & Hurst View Jibber Jabber. A CAMRA discount is offered, but it's not well advertised. So make sure you ask - I didn't. The lounge was quite welcoming. There were a couple still finishing lunch. The bar did seem to have more people in and there was also a large garden at the rear of the car park with plenty of things to keep children occupied. Worth a look.

Excellent family pub and eatery. A great place to drive or cycle to.
The outside looks everything like a country pub should, with a nice beer garden and play area for the kids. The interior is a fair mix for diners and those just wishing an ale. Separate rooms, with a pool area. All well decorated. The staff were friendly.
There were four handpulls in the bar; Holdens bitter, Titanic Look-Out, Jennings Cocker Hoop and Jennings MILD. The MILD was lovely, but didnt quite make up for the fact that Holden's MILD wasn't on.
There is no way on earth i will not come back here either with family, or stopping off when cycling.

Surprisingly few comments for such a decent pub. Our was only a flying pitstop, but the welcome was warm, the pub - and carpark - was very full, the food smelt good and the range of beer was very decent indeed. Although arriving at dusk, we could see the potential of the view around. The barman had his arm in a sling after breaking his collarbone a few weeks ago, but still managed to serve us far better than many people with two fully functioning arms in too many pubs to mention!

Returning down Mway with friends and kids on a Monday evening in August 08, and this was one of a v few GBG pubs open with food - what a find!!!
Excellent homemade food, lovely ale, friendly and knowledegable staff, and lots to keep the kids happy. Beautiful setting, too.
Well worth searching for!

Good pint of Holdens Gold, well worth finding just for that. The food was very good, only downside was we had to wait nearly an hour for it, and the place wasn't full. The staff are friendly and helpful. The only other gripe was there was no disabled parking spaces and had to walk from the far side of the car park. All in all well worth the visit, would recommend.

Well worth finding. Food excellent, beer very good - usually Holden's Mild & Bitter plus a guest.

This pub really has it all for a country pub, whatever your taste, from a large lounge and restaurant featuring a la carte meals to the small basic farmers bar and adjoining pool room. The beer was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. While the kids play on the large play area outside, the views of the Staffordshire countryside make a perfect backdrop to the excellent beer on a summer's evening.
