After a long day in Burnham we caught the train one stop to Southminster for another GBG 2014 tick and the only pub in Southminster which appears in the guide.

A short walk from the station brings you to this cracking pub, that had 5 ales on. My choice was Red Fox Brewery, Bespoke Bitter @ 4.2%. It was a very decent pint.

Busy with locals , plenty of spots to sit and a decent outside garden area also.

Quaint with floorboards throughout. Quick service from the friendly barmaid.

Great pub with a good atmosphere, so good that after a few beers in 2 of the pubs close by we returned on our way to the station for another visit. On this visit i went for a pint of George's - Lest - 4%.

Definitely worth the extra trip Southminster.....10/10 for me.

Wonderful drinkers pub which I must have visited by accident a few years ago at their beer rest, as I don't remember the superb interior. As I often go for the last beer pulled, I had the Adnams which was gorgeously flat and tasty, as good as I've had.

Visited for the first time last month (July-13) and very impressed. Excellent quality of ales in immaculate and traditional pub that has no pretensions and is all the better for it. Landlord kindly provided a free sample of "black lager", something I've not seen before but would certainly recommend you try if in the locale.

Excellent old school pub clsoe to the station (as the name would suggest). The pint of Colchester No.1 was top form and worth sticking to for the duration.

Still as good as ever, top beers at the current festival.

Well done friendly staff!

Beware - the pub doesn't open until 2pm on Saturday.
Other than that it's just about perfect. Excellent local ales (the Maldon Gold we had was stupendous), nicely decked out interior with lots of breweriana. The outside area is very pleasant and the staff are nice too.

An excellent village pub, with the emphasis on beer - no TV no, fruit machines.

Great selection (ever changing) of ales - both local and far flung brews. Superb regular festivals as well.

Sit and enjoy the banter between the Landlord and his regulars while supping a few

Well worth a day out but do check the opening times (Saturday's are particularly odd)

Popped in for a couple and was happy to get some live music from a kiwi chap who coping well with the ribbing he was getting from the locals. Good ale.

{Rating Unchanged} ~ Still as good as ever and the locals and staff VERY friendly indeed. Beer spot on, Westons cider on draught too. Shame I have to wait another whole year before my next visit. Ah well, all good things come to those who wait.

A traditional pub that does have a feel of being at a rail station about it. A number of train pictures are displayed in the pub. The pub has six hand pumps although only five were in use. Mighty Oak Oscar Wilde, Dark Star Hophead, Adnams Bitter, Tring Ridgeway and Westons Scrumpy. The beer was reasonably priced as well at 2.50 for Oscar Wilde. There is an outside paved and seating area that you can see when walking along the corridor to the toilet.

What a great little pub this is! Went on holiday last week and visited the Station Arms on the first evening, needless to say the friendly reception from both landlord & locals, the superb ever changing range of tip-top quality beers ensured we came back every single night for the duration of our short break.

A proper pub indeed! With Crouch Vale Brewers Gold & Dark Star Hophead almost in permanent residence at the bar what excuse do you need to give this place a try? As Arnold said, "I shall be back!".

Very nice people. Customers friendly. Well done for biting the bullet and going no smoking before the ban!

Visited once more for their beer festival, well worth attending. Extra beers out at the back in their ever-improving barn/shed. Not surprisingly some railway relics scattered around the premises [shame their designer uses an American loco image on their website]. At non-festival times we public transport users can combine a visit to this pub with some of the Burnham ones.
