Great pub in front of the Earls Court tube station. I went there with my family for dinner and we had great experience. We came to visit London from Toronto and we asked at the hotel for a place to have dinner and he recommended us this pub . The place was great and very relaxing especially upstairs area was amazing. Food was great and we enjoyed the evening. The waitress was very attentive and polite she even recommended us what drink goes well with the food we ordered. For sure I will recommend this place.

very expensive, rude staff, short pint measures, other tha that perfect!
yet another pub advertised on BITE as possessing pool tables but doesn't have any- we found out to our cost when we went the other week.
Opposite Earls Court tube (High Street side) a perfectly reasonable traditional pub with perhaps a little too modern a refurb but comfortable and I can confirm they DO now have a good ale selection. Would use again.
Was probably a good pub in days gone by, but was today a frankly appalling experience.
No ales on whatsoever-only lager.
Waited twenty minutes to be served to no avail.
During this fruitless wait, looked along the bar and observed bar staff fingering the contents of sandwiches to discover what they were.
One of the bar staff seemed not to know how to open a bottle of wine and spent at least ten minutes trying to do so.
A boorish, suited, loud and arrogant crowd in here, some of whom seem to think they own the place.
Zero stars.

the manager is awful

8.15 for a pint of Magners and a pint of Carling!! Toilets need tidying up. Server poured level to the word 'pint' on a non-lined class but claimed that was correct when questioned saying they often get asked. They often get asked because this is wrong!! Every glass has 'pint' printed on it. If it were a lined glass there would be a line next to the word. Won't come here again!! Drinks nice though. 2/10!!

Not so friendly staff, good ale
Aussie Rules on the TV when we went in and 4.05 for a pint of London Pride. Bit of a brash pub. Not top of my list for a return visit..
Stopped in for a half of Hobgoblin and had to wait to be served and it wasn't busy. The beer was just OK.
Toilets are beyond belief. Good thing I wore my wellies and gas mask.
I was there again in November and I was lucky as before. Greetings to Keith :-))). Toilets could be a little bit cleaner. Does not smell good.
I was there some weeks ago (from Germany) and I enjoyed it very much. In November Ill be back! I hope to see again the friendly barkeeper who served me the good Guinness :-))
`The drinks are poor quality and overpriced. There is just no excuse for this; its taking advantage of its position opposite Earls Court Station. So what. Just go down the road to The Prince of Feck ... The staff are generally hostile - disliking customers is an easy trap that staff can fall into in brewery pubs - plus there is nothing personalised about the place, and the condition of the toilets is poor - not cleaning up grafitti etc is a cure sign that they don't care . To be avoided.
walked in here saturday when straight to piss stinking toilets, lucky for me my mates hadn't been served yet so we could leave without buying. What a toilet of a pub, went down the vastly superior Blackbirds instead.
Very nice place with loads of different bottled beers and ales had a great time again with mates drinking our way around the world.......
I agree should remove old data as this place is Beautiful, great beer and great food

As most other posters have said, the score of 3.9 (slowly creeping up) seems far too low. Maybe BITE ought to disregard scores over a certain age as pubs do change so frequently it can apparently mar an otherwise excellent pub. Large single room pub with high ceilings and an impressive array of old lights hanging over the bar. Smaller rear section with comfy seating. Apparently they host live jazz some nights and there is an upstairs restaurant although we did not try this. There were an impressive six pumps on the bar, although two of these were not is use with "coming soon" notices hung on them. The four that were on were Dirty Tackle, Tetley's Dark Mild, Timothy Taylor Landlord and Young's London Gold. Unfortunately after that selection the only cider was Strongbow which was a little dissapointing.
A large street corner pub opposite Earls Ct station. The ornate gold embossed signage is in contrast to the black painted brickwork. I don't know why pubcos do this, it's not easily reversed once trends change as they surely will. The interior is one large high ceilinged space, the ceiling being dark red and the walls a mix of wood cladding and dark patterned wall paper. It all leads to a fairly gloomy environment despite the lighting from a number of ornate chandeliers. The front area has the bar, mainly wooden floors and a mix of high tables and more traditional seating. Towards the rear the area is carpeted with wood panelling, old photos and banquettes, plus small tables, all a bit crammed in. Six handpumps, 5 on, Pride, Taylor's Landlord, Brains Bitter, Dark and Bread of Heaven. Thwaites Lancaster Bomber was "coming soon". Not a bad spot with well kept beer and a traditional feel, but hey, 3.55 for a pint of Bread of Heaven, that is simply too much. Despite reducing my rating a notch for this the current 3.8 is too low and probably reflects a previous incarnation.

Yes have another 10 to help the ratings
Not sure if this is allowed, but since i went twice, I'm giving it a second ten to help the ratings.
Absolutly agree with previous recent comments. Nice old pub with a fair selection of decent beer. I opted for the London Gold (From Youngs I think) and it was probably the best pint I had in Earls Court all week. Came back for food one evening and went upstairs to the restraunt. The food was EXCELLENT! I had asparagus in bacon with a poached egg and holandase sauce, with a sirloin steak and chips to follow. Can't fault it, nice suroundings, good food and a decent pint. I am giving this pub a 10, not because it deserves it (probably a 6) but it does deserve to be listed higher than a 3.5. Will return in the new year for food and beer.
Some of the recent comments are spot on. I went to this pub on Saturday for the first time in many years. It used to be a complete dive, with a rough and ready clientele about 5-10 years ago, when I went drinking in Earls Court rather more than I do now, so was wary of meeting friends here. However it's perfectly fine now. Tried the Adnams and Davenports Knee Trembler. Quality of the beer was fairly good (fairly good as opposed to great). Pub was a lot cleaner than I remember it, and staff were perfectly fine. It's nothing amazing, but it's vastly better than it used to be and deserves credit for improvement so 6/10.
I agree with the recent comments below that the current low rating must be due to exceptionally low scores in the past as this is a nice enough pub which had a good ale selection of Adnams, Ruddles, Landlord, 6X, Tetleys Dark Mild and Hopbacks Odyssey during my visit. There was also a decent selection of standard and premium products and I found the governor to be polite enough.
The dcor is quite traditional although I have the feeling that it was not that long ago that it was decorated or maybe there is a strict cleaning regime. I spotted signs for a dining room upstairs, but I didnt venture to it, but I did notice a large area towards the rear of the pub that looked very comfortable. Maybe this is where the jazz and blues sessions are held on a Sunday afternoon.
This is a decent enough pub and worth a visit if passing.
I think this low rating may relate to the early years (how long does a score count on this website?), when I went in in 2006 it was a fairly dire venue. All the comments written at that time ring true. That said it is in the 2010 Good Beer Guide and it is great to hear of a pub turning its self round.

Visited here in early August, on the wettest night in history. I thought I had been drinking in this pub on the previous two evenings but the waitress in the Chinese resturant had directed me to the Black Bird. It was only late on the second night, after a few pints of Ossit Gold, that I was informed of my mistake. To let you know I am a blind drinker. I enjoyed the Courtfield and thought it was a better pub than its rating would suggest. Any pub with six real ales has to be taken seriously. I particularly enjoyed Tetleys Mild. I had read some disparaging comments about the staff but I found them both pleasant and helpful. I was thanked by some gentlemen from Twickenham who I asked to lead me to the pub because they had not been there before and subequently thought it was the best pub area.

A better pub than its 3/10 rating suggests. We visited here unintentionally as The Blackbird was closed late on a Friday evening. Saw 5 real ales. Although there was possibly a 6th - Morrissey & Fox Proud of Pubs, Fullers Summer Ale, Greene King IPA, Abbot Ale and Landlord. It was a bit rowdy with the late night crowd (it appears to serve until midnight on Friday's). Many of the clientele were tourists. The Polish bar staff were very slow and were hampered by the language barrier. Handy for Earl's Court tube.
Six casks - including Landlord, Tetley Dark Mild, Fullers Summer. A typical solid, old fashioned, well run, clean and tidy pub. Does food and nibbles. OK. Above average due to the sum of the parts, but nothing special.
Bizzarely low score for this pub, which is actually a very good one. Nice decor, friendly and busy and the food looked good value. Plus six well kept real ales on tap (Timmy Taylors, Pride, Abbots, Adnams Bitter, Morrisey Fox and Tetleys Dark Mild at the moment) is amazing for the area - can count the number of other pubs with 6 pumps in K&C on one hand! Would rank this along with Blackbird as the best Earl's Court boozers by a clear margin.
The current rating of 2.9 is clearly ridiculous - it is not a great pub but has six real ales on including a very unusual appearance (down South) of Tetley Dark Mild. Unlike so many places round here, I got served a full pint by an efficient barman without the need to ask for a top-up. Give it a try.
Rather baffled by the comments on my first visit prior to a Chelsea game. Friendly enough staff (generally don't find that being Polish precludes people from being able to do their job successfully) and well kept Morrissey Fox Blonde, though the Landlord was rather lifeless.
a most unpleasant public house
smells of sewerage
landlord a complete waste of space
bar staff rude and always looking for a tip - polish too!! how can you have a trad pub with polish staff??
beer over priced and glasses not very clean
again staff lacking in the basics
this pub relies too much on the passing trade and forgets about the quality
avoid at all costs
much better pubs within 100 or 200 metres
would not reccommend
A fairly decent selection of ales on Timothy Taylor Landlord; Old Speckled Hen; Swing Low; Old Peculiar; London Pride and GKIPA. The TT Landlord was OK - 3.10 a pint seems to be the going rate for this area. This is a big chain (Spirit Group) pub with little in the way of character. There are also too many high stools and tables for my liking, and the pop music was being played too loudly. This pub seems to be mainly used as a restaurant, with tourist prices to match. Even with the ale selection, I cant see much reason to return.
Well, could be worse. Had 5 hand pulls running: Adnams Bitter, Morresy Fox Blonde Ale, Old Peculier, Ruddles County and Timothy Taylors Landlord. A bit noisy for a country bumpkin like me, but the beer, I had the Adnams, was good. I wanted a pub that sold good real ale and this fitted the bill.
Location opposite the station seems to attract the detritus of society (rather like Earls Court Rd itself. Grubby place that really does nothing to recommend itself to the discerning drinker.
Possibly one of the worst pubs not only in London but in the world, I have had more joy being mugged. There are many a better pub nearby try those - the managers a tosser as well.
No real ale available and the pub doesn't look like it's cared for by the staff or customers. You would do a lot better by going just up or down the road.
Horrible experience. Short, old man with glasses behind bar is miserable; confrontational and very unpleasant. This is the worst pub I've been to in London.

Absolute shitting hole. The pits of Earls Court.Staff who were dragged up and beer that was taken unfiltered from the nearest sewage works. Avoid.
Pretty average. Nice location if you want a real quick pint before catching the tube at Earls Court. Generally kind of boring, but no real complaints- nice pool tables and big projection screen for SkySports upstairs.
Still, you'd be better off going to the Blackbird just down the road.
Scummy place, scummy people - there are many better places to drink than in here.
Agree with pretty much everything that has been said here, the only redeeming features of this pub are that it has sky and serves ale (John Smiths).
Dirty, smelly and badly kept pub which is a shame as it's in a good location and looks quite nice from the outside. Very smoky too, of course you expect smoking in a pub but you will come out of this one absolutely stinking of fags.
Dirty. Overflowing ashtrays, dirty glasses everywhere, cliquey and unwelcoming regulars. And this was at 6pm on a Tuesday! I went there as was looking for somewhere to kill 20 minutes before meeting a mate at the station. Walked in, decided that waiting outside was preferable - says it all really as I can't think of when I've ever walked straight out of a place without at least having a beer. Needs refurbishment, new management, new customers. Avoid.
I'm only judging on the fact I had 2 quick pints in here before seeing Iron Maiden last year, but it seemed like a good place to spend an everning. As expected for a Friday night in Earls Court the place was packed, although admittably it was probably due to other punters there for the gig. Typical larger and ale for the area.

Awful..rude manager, rude staff, rude regulars.. dirty, noisy and a deepy unpleasant experience. have given this place 2 open-minded goes and it was as bad second time.
Dave - 10 Nov 2004 19:01 |
terrible place. The manager doesn't care anymore - the place needs some TLC. Staff are always under trained, and rude customers just add to the atmosphere being stale and nervous. Aviod.
Yellen Margret - 8 Sep 2004 06:55 |
Noisy, smoky, sports (rugby) oriented and with those annoying fruit machines. Two real ales.

Absolutley wicked. The service. . . some crazy american guy, a fit british bird, and some attentive ausies. The place to go if you like great service and incredible atmosphere.

There were two guys on the pool table. Just before the break one of them put down his pint and juggled five balls! Then he won the frame. I think it was Beer-tricks Potter...
