After refurb this place changed it's name AGAIN to the Oliver Cromwell. Then just a few weeks later it was changed to the Lamplighter.
|
Now called the snug
|
This place in now open again. Passing by I didn't go in but just had a look through the window. Not many customers as is usual here. Looks quite smart. There are 3 hand pulls on the bar but one was without a clip. The other two were Fullers London Pride and the dreaded Doom Bore.
|
Still closed but a new name has appeared so in future (till they change it again) this place will be called "The Snug"
|
Closed for refurbishment but note on door says reopening at end of month.
|
This place has now changed their name to Tommy Flynn's

I was the only customer here on a Saturday afternoon. The place had a very strange smell. Two televisions, one showing a British channel and other showing an Irish channel were competing for attention with the music. I never see the point in having both on, especially when there are no customers! No real ales. Other drinks were expensive. I guess it's much more lively in the evening. But my first impressions were not good.

I heard this pub was under new management so went in for a nosey - what a suprise!!!! The new landlady has a smile as big as Ireland, bubbly and friendly she greeted me and my fella with a warm welcome and poured him the best pint of guiness in Hounslow. When the weekend approached we thought we'd go back and check out the live bands on saturday and sunday - what a craic..... What a turnaround for this pub, we will definately be back this sunday for Karaoke - finally, in Hounslow we have found a new local !!!!

This place was reasonably busy a couple of days ago with local office workers popping in for lunch to sample their Thai food. There is a small restaurant area at the rear that leads to a beer yard out the back with some covered and uncovered seating. The Governor seemed to be a nice chap, but unfortunately I had to endure the rest of the 'Cash in the Attic program that I had started to watch in the Lord Palmerston. This time it was playing on 2 plasmas!
Standard lagers and Guinness are available and there are 2 unused ale pumps. Maybe they should try hooking them up to something as the Wetherspoons next door was full of people drinking real ale.
Its quite a cosy little pub that does live music and it sounds like it has improved from the previous comments. That said I cant see myself going out of my way to go to any of the pubs this end of Hounslow High Street.

Was closed due to fire in the Celler but was NEVER up to Let..Now reopened after a refurb...has been well done out..nice carpet and also now with a couple of flat screens..same grotty toilets though..(well the Gents is anyway)..so is this a new start for the old Friend in Hand..dont think so as it would appear that Harryoke bloke and his sad hangers on (groupies??) will also be back...O and of course someone has to pay for this...Yes you so a bit pricey (Fosters 2.90 a pint) Weatherspoons so only a few yards away (2.29)

RETURNED YET AGAIN TO THIS WONDERFUL IRISH MADHOUSE ON SUN NITE! A BIT QUIETER THAN LAST WEEK BUT NONE THE LESS ENTERTAINING! LITTLE LIZZIES RENDITION OF "BLANKET ON THE GROUND" HAS TO BE HEARD (and seen!) TO BE BELIEVED!! SOME REALLY GOOD IRISH MUSIC AND SONGS WASHED DOWN WITH GOOD GUINNESS. CANT WORK OUT JUST WHO IS THE GOV IN THIS PUB? I HAVE MET 2 SO FAR! Im TOLD THE NEW MANAGER IS CALLED "BILLY THE BOLLOCKS" WHAT A BRILLIANT NAME FOR A MANAGER OF A PUB FULL OF SUCH ECCENTRIC AND MOSTLY NICE MAD IRISH! I CANT WAIT TO MEET HIM.

Returned to the well last sun nite for the mad paddy karaoke by HARRYOKE. Had a good time with lots of laughs and plenty of craic! A few "over the top" drunks including the token thick cork man called Doney ?? silly name for a silly man! everyone else there were really nice and some were really good singers too. Manager Paul assisted "Doney" to the door and the night settled down without further incident. Malcolm from Antrim, the barman with the bowtie on my previous visit showed he was no one trick pony by singing "dance the night away" even though he appeared to be drinking Guinness for Ireland! And all without a safety net too! All in all a good night and I had to admit that the karaoke was as good as Malcolm had assured me. this little pub is well worth a visit.

Not bad pub people are friendly and good quality on beer and guinness but most of all the barmaids a Jessica Alba lookalike stunning!! thats the only reason i go in there!!!

If you want to visit an authentic irish pub in london complete with authentic thick drunken paddys including Jimmy the patch who has only one eye!then look no further, this pub is for you! No frills, toilets basic but clean and excellant tai food. best of all is the genuine irish welcome and irish wit from both staff and customers, including Jim the patch! part time barman Malcolm from Antrim was working on my visit complete with off white shirt and bow tie! Malcolm not only dished out lots of friendly insults and banter but also was forever on the receiving end of countless pisstakes all given and taken as only the irish do so well! I enjoyed the craic so much that I lost count of the pints of really good guinness bummed off me by JIM the patch who assures me that he comes from a place called Planet Giro! This pub really is lost in its own plesant irish timewarp! Malcolm informed me that live irish music is on stage every sat night and also the best karaoke I will ever see or hear every fri and sun night.I might as well give it a go,after all Ive seen and heard the comedians I might also enjoy the singers!....I will let you know!

dirty old paddy's...YES...nuts of Hounslow...YES...minging toilets..YES. This pub used to be good craic about 10 years ago, but those days are well gone. Like walking onto a shagged out bar in a western, with dirty auld Jimmy in the corner and no sight of a hunky coyboy! The thai food is the only reason I would go back to this pub..
|
This pub has changed over the years - I used to drink in there all the time approx 10 years ago. It is now reverting back to a little bit how it used to be and I have been frequenting it now and again! A good laugh at the weekend on Friday and Sunday night with Harryoke! It is fairly well managed and there is now hardly any chavs or riff-raff. There will always be a small element of this as in any pub in Hounslow but would recommend this pub to those 18-40 on a friday for the karaoke and 40+ who like Irish karaoke(!) on a Sunday for the friendly atmosphere - Toilets do leave a lot to be desired though!

The wishing Well is now well managed, with good reliable staff. The beer is good as well as the guinness.Karakoe on fridays & sundays with Harryokie Saturday night music has now been restored, after an absence of 2 months, which should bring the pub back to life on saturday nights. There is next to no trouble, as the manager Roberthas cleaned all the rif raf . Well worth a visit

I love the Irish - except those who drinking this pub.
Lecherous dirty old men, still drinking the same pint at 6pm that they started at lunchtime.
Dingy!
|
ncie quiet pub. only been here a few times while yates was shut but never had any problems. pretty good for football nights as not many people go here so u can get to the bar and keep ur seat without any fuss
|
Used to love this pub when it was The Friend in Hand and went to the karaoke's all the time. I hadn't been inside since it's reincarnation as The Wishing Well.
The crowd isn't really the same, mostly old Irish drunks and a few of the usual Hounslow nutters. Why do things have to change?
Aside from being disappointed, I found a good range of drinks, all reasonably priced and the service was rather good.
|
This is amongst the best pubs in Hounslow - which doesn't mean that it is any good, there is a Thai restaurant at the back, but this means that the non-Thai food served is now minging. Service is slow and there is always that something in the air that you get in Hounslow that it is all about to kick-off big style. When England beat Switzerland in Euro2004, there was a fight between some of the local chavs that lurk at the front of the bar.
|
A reasonable pub compared to the dross surrounding it, but the service is very poor, making you feel guilty for even ordering a drink. Plus it is full of all the usual Hounslow nutters.
