I quite like the Brunning & Price chain of pubs. They normally have a few decent ales on and some branches have a cider. On Christmas Eve, the selection was Moorhouses Broomstick Bitter, Titanic Steerage, Brunning & Price Original Bitter, Weetwood Eastgate Ale, Hopping Mad Hopping Mad Hopknotch & Roosters Black Math. The best cider offering was Aspalls. The one downside of these pubs is the focus on food. A couple of friendly locals sat at the bar concentrating on the ales, whilst the rest of the large building was given over to diners, with a slightly ageing clientele. Still a relatively good choice if you're in the area.

Usual high Brunning & Price standards, and staff are excellent, though the Weetwood beer not great, though I think beer turnover unlikely to be a problem - very busy.

Visited again. Had a few pints of decent, refreshing 4% ale called Lord Lucan. Game pie very good too.

Upmarket pub in upmarket Cheshire village.Food and beer is a bit pricy but the quality is very good. Had about 8 ales on including 4 or 5 "guest" ales. Serves food all day.Mains range from around 9 to the 22 fillet steak with all the trimmings, all portions are generously sized. Large south & west facing beer garden at back, so get sun in afternoon and early evening. Dogs allowed in the bar. Does seem to attract a few loud moothed golf boors.

First time I have eaten here and I have no complaints at all.Excellent pub, always has been as I have been many times but just for a beer.

Glad to see the dross don't appreciate what this pub offering is all about, and always has been, i.e. a bit of luxury and a fantastic beer, wine and spirits selection. The prices are designed to keep the morons out - and the standards up. Carry on the good work.

I know it's expensive and the food is not always that great (on our last Sunday visit the beef was curly around the edges and so tough a steak knife couldn't cope and my sons burger was so rare the lower bun was dripping and soggy with blood - surely a food safety issue) but i still love this pub!

Sunday lunch 12 !!!! Give me a break.

too posh and obnoxious

Another very good pub, same chain as Harkers. Quality ales and very good food. Again no distraction like tv, bandit etc. etc. probably over 80 malts too. No children after 6pm. No smoking area. Very friedly landlord and staff.

Beer choice and quality = excellent Bar ran out of ice at 9pm. Bought three rounds of drinks (same drinks each time) and was charged 3 different prices. Long wait between courses. My rare roast beef was inedible, it was like trying to cut up and eat rubber bands. I'll return for the beer, but not for food.

This place is wonderful, I go here whenever I can. The food is second to none (well maybe the Pant-Yr-Ochain near Wrecsam (yes it's the same menu)) and they serve many a good pint. The clientele is a bit upper crust, many would be millionaires and general money grabbers but there's plenty of good country folk also. They have a new year bash called the grib (greeb, groth, I don't know) or something, some politics about not leting locals come or maybe just my mate.

Not cheap but very good ale and food. Can be busy. Avoid estate agents night - early Friady evenings

Really homely pub with a lovely interior, conservatory and lots of outdoor seating. Brilliant food, Deuchars IPA and several guest real ales always on, friendly staff. Really nice place for lunch or a few pints in the evening.
